Fandom Gladiators; First Period [05/17].

The Gladiators would come into the Danger Shop that day to find the area focused around a large foam pyramid, so if anyone was wondering what they might be doing for this week's challenge, Rosa might let you skip wearing the helmet this week because there was clearly nothing up there that needed to be protected.

"Alright, Gladiators," she nodded once they all seemed settled, "this is the Pyramid. The goal is simple: get to the top. But, of course, it won't be that simple. Two of you have been chosen to defend the top of the pyramid. Do whatever it takes to make sure the other gladitors don't reach the top. Lilac, Crap Horse," oh, look, it's evolved! Thanks, Nightmare!, "since one of you had the most knock-offs last week and the other somehow miraculously managed to stay on his platform the whole time, you get to be the defenders. We'll be going in rounds in pairs of two; the first one to the top gets the chance to compete again for ultimate champion, which...might give you an advantage next week.

"Any questions? If not, let's gear up and get going. Lilac and Crap Horse, head on up and get ready to defend the territory; the rest of you, get limber, get stretched, and get ready."

Climbing!

If you have any questions, Rosa will definitely take them, but she might have a few questions of her own for you if you're having trouble with "climb the big foam mountain."

Also a good time to try to hype or psych each other out, which is a time honored tradition in any gladitorial enterprise, really.

Due to the uneven numbers, the rounds will be heats determined by victors and eliminations. I'm going to kill you with OCD, please make the threads as messy as you need/want within each heat to acheive what has been dictated by the All-Powerful RNG! Gladiators, get your climb on. Defenders, get ready to throw down!

Bobby and Hurricane are up first, with Bobby making it to the top before Hurricane!

Nexu and Janet are next, with Janet making it to the top before Nexu!

Bobby's back to join Nightmare for her ascent, and Nightmare gets to the top before Bobby!

As the "ultimate victors" of the previous heats, Janet and Nightmare make the final round, with Janet ~~somehow~~ as the ultimate ultimate victor!

Who might be honestly a little baffled about how that all turned out, but, hey, who didn't love a good underdog story?

Mae Borowski

Mae was made for this game. She was tiny, and thus a small target. And she bounced.

She hopped from level to level, zigzagging to make herself even harder to knock off, and generally having a grand old time.

Vette

Mae was a champion! She was going to murder this round!

Hop, hop, jump!

. . . Slip off the edge of the first level because she overjumped. Oops.

Keyleth

Janet was ready! She could do this! Okay probably not but she would try!

And then she saw Mae-

"Did I just win?"

"Are you at the top?" Mae asked, from her heaped position on the ground. "'Cause then yes."

If not, Mae would be back on her feet to try that jump combo again in a moment!

Lana Beniko

Was there a trick to this? This didn't seem that hard.

Lana shrugged and started up.

When I first looked at the picture, I thought this was going to be like that Japanese (I think) game show, where the whole pyramid is oiled.

"Hey, Nexu!"

Was Vette pretty much pitching herself right down from the top of the pyramid at Lana?

You better believe she was.

She was defending! See?

But would she? Would she really?

Because now seemed like as good a time as any for defender-slash-SUPER-RIVAL-Lylek to come down from the top of the tower, see Nightmare there in a heap on the ground... and then take a seat on her.

"Riiiivalllllllls," she whispered, oh-so-ominously.

"AaAaAaAaAaUuUuUuUgGgGgGhHhHhHhHh!" Mae cried, and thrashed her various limbs in a clearly futile attempt to unseat her rival. "Curse you, Lilac! I have been thwarted!"

What? The drama was half the fun.

"That's right! Defeat has never before been so bitter, has it!?"

Really, the theatrics made this already awesome class just that. Much. Better.

"I'll get you next time, Lilac! IIIIIIII'llllllll geeeeeeeeetttttttt yooooooooouuuuuuuuu!"

Have fun climbing your way freely to the top, Janet!

"Gah!" Lana braced herself and caught Vette, but even with the Force only managed to send them into a controlled tumble so no bones were broken.

She gave Vette a look from the bottom of their pile. "One of these days I'm going to decide to be a good Sith and just let you hurt yourself."

Vette gave her a grin that was practically beatific.

"Only way I'll ever learn, right?"

It wouldn't happen. Vette would never, ever learn.

And Lana would always be a loyal friend.

She sighed.

And used the Force to pick Vette up.

"Whoop!"

You know, even hanging upside-down, Vette really didn't have the fear of the big scary Sith shaken into her yet? She was mostly just grinning at Lana, but upside-down now, tips of her lekku curled against the floor.

"Hey, this is great," she decreed. "If you could just drop me off back at the top of the pyramid..."

"I should drop you on your head," Lana groused.

Before floating her over to the top of the pyramid.

And then dropping her, mostly gently, on her head.

...you know, now I'm half tempted to do a whole class based around the Japanese "Is it chocolate?" game.

I have so many questions.

Vette managed to more or less recover from that with splayed arms and a bit of a twist of her body that was probably way too telling about just how flexible she really was.

Little sneak.

"Thanks, kitty kitty kitty!"

Lana made a rude noise, dusted herself off, and went to watch the others.

Also, because I didn't come up with a name for Bobby in time last week: his Gladiator name is totally Chill, because hey, he's got a theme, he might as well run with it.
