Music 201 - March 30, 2006 - Period 7 - Class #21

On the round table, there was an assortment of food from a little place called Hobbiton in Middle Earth. On the board there was an altered map of Middle Earth.

The re-labelled map reads:

Hobbiton/The Shire: Little furry dudes
Moria: Heigh-ho dudes
Rivendell: Pointy ears dudes
Mordor: Bug-eyed dude
Isengard: Slimy dudes and Christopher Lee and wizards
Helm's Deep: Bad place to hang out
Gondor: Butch dudes

"Afternoon dudes!" Ted greeted. "I heard about the kazoo stuff from last week. Most excellent. Today we're learning about this place called Middle Earth. Well, their music. They don't have cars or planes or time-travelling phone booths or anything to get around, so they have to walk or ride horses or sail everywhere. It takes a long time. And most of the time they're either too busy fighting or eating or walking to make new music all the time, so they keep to the same few songs and then just modulate them or use the same theme and make an 11 hour soundtrack really long tunes out of the few ideas they do come up with. Then they just keep harping on the same idea over and over again, and it turns out really long, so they can hum to it on their really long trips. Seriously dudes, it takes like a week to walk to the mall for them."

Discussion: "No discussion on this today unless you want to dudes. But something different. If you could meet any musician-type dude or dudette or go anywhere to any musical performance in all of the multiverse, where would you wanna go? Who would you like to see? Enjoy the food, dudes!"

Callisto signed in.

She regarded the map with some befuddlement. Something about it seemed very familar...

D'anna's eyes go wide, fish like even, and that sound of "ummmmmmmm?" totally isn't coming from her mouth, at all, nope.

"I dunno. Like, in my universe, I know what I'd like to see. Weej's birthday party, where my mum an' da met and performed together for the first time. But the whole multiverse? That's a lot."

Lindsey pondered the question. The whole of the multiverse was, well, the whole multiverse. How was he supposed to pick just one?

"That's too much to choose from. Seriously. So, uh, Johnny Cash when he was all badass in his younger days. Be kinda awesome to meet him."

"Definitly Elvis Presley. Circa 1960s."

Pip played with his braid a little before finally answering, "Well, I guess since everything has to exist the multi-verse, a jam session with Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. But, failing that, Carlos Stantana."
