Well. Here's to hoping the students didn't mind Elizabethan music today, because that seemed to be all the stereo was going to play today. It...could be a lot worse, though, and, with this group of nerds, if any of them noticed, they probably wouldn't really care that much.

"Alright," Rosa said, "the end is finally in sight; we've only got a few more classes yet, and I realized we haven't even done leaps yet. So that's what we're doing today. Jeté, which basically means to 'throw,' because you're...throwing your feet. Leaping. It's just a fancy word for leaping."

"We'll stretch and do warm-ups, and then it's all leaps from here."

You could probably do this part in your sleep by now: warm up with stretches on the floor, then to the barre for all those plies and tendus, and Rosa's really emphasizing the développé and battement today, too, because you're going to need them.

Onto the leaps! Rosa takes a few moments to explain the basics of the jeté: one leg shooting out in front, the other in back, while high in the air, being sure to point your feet and extend your legs.

She'll also cover the chassé, a small little step to start out the leaps to help them get some momentum and speed to help them execute a series of a couple of leaps across the floor.

And then Rosa ~~showed off~~ demonstrated a little for them to get an idea of what these should look like.

Then it was there turn, going one at a time, diagonally across the floor, one direction, then the other, until they ran out of time, which would probably be just around the time you started to really feel like you were getting it. Because dance class.

Breq definitely had the strength for this, so once she got the hang of it, she could reach quite high in the air, even if she lacked in technique and elegance.

After all that jumping, it's time to make sure you cool down so your inner thighs don't hate you too much tomorrow.

If you must. She's definitely, you know, there.

My frustration with not being able to find a really good YouTube clip of just a good succession of grand jeté is going to make me late for work. -_-
