Okay. So Rosa might have to begrudgingly admit that there was actually one benefit to being forced into teaching this class this semester: she didn't have to put hardly any effort into actually thinking of interesting class idea, because it was all following a basic progression and somehow, miraculously, none of the students really seemed all that bored or sick of it yet.
...not that she'd care if they were.
"Okay," she said, over this week's selection of symphonic metal, "this week, we're going to move away from the barre and try some basic techniques at the center of the floor. Still a lot of the basic stuff, but it's important to get them down, but there will at least be a few new steps that we'll be developing further next week."
Rosa barely managed to hold back a slight curl of her lip for how gross and professional and teacher-like that sounded. Seriously. What the hell?
"So warm up today's going to include the usual stretches and some of the barre work from last week, then we'll bring it to the center, I'll over the new steps, and we'll hit that center work. You know the drill."
It was seriously the most simple basic stuff in the world. If you didn't know what to expect by now, then there was no hope for you.

As per usual, she was throwing herself right into this.

Center Work - Ballet, 01/18.
She'll give everyone a chance for questions and a moment to see them try it to correct anything about the moves before going on to lead everyone through a basic center workout, which would end with a round of trying those pliés from last week without the benefit of a bar to help with balance.
Progress!

And stepped.
And turned.
As you do.

And then she had to chase away an image of herself in her head, pushing up glasses and spouting words like indubitably in a terrible British accent.
"But that's not a bad idea," she noted, glancing around at the...diversity of her class. She wouldn't be surprised if none of them had ever even heard of ballet until the class, and she hadn't exactly taken the time to go into detail as to what they were even doing. She thought for a second, then nodded. "I'll come up with something for next week. It's not like there's a lack of resources to show you guys some of the actual stuff."
...because they apparently wanted to know? And learn? What the hell? These kids were weird.

Breq found she liked the teacher. Being strict and organized combined with being open to listen to suggestions were good qualities.
Would Rosa find it disturbing to know this?
Re: Center Work - Ballet, 01/18.
"You're probably not the only one, either," she guessed with a sigh.
Because great. Even more teaching. Hooray.
Re: Center Work - Ballet, 01/18.
...but those were thoughts for another time, as he wanted to give the steps his undivided attention. Especially when there were all those extra bends and the barre-less pliés that would demand his focus so he didn't just go staggering out of position for lack of balance.
