Adulting 101- Monday- 2nd period

Today the class was in the Danger Shop, which looked a lot like the waiting room to an office. Kitty was there, dressed in a business suit and looked nice and professional. She felt weird about it!

"Last week we talked about finding a job, and today we're going to work on the first step," she began. "You're going to have an interview, and you're even going to have to look the part. Now, there's this old saying about dressing for the job you want, not the one you have. So you're never going to want to go in in jeans and a t-shirt, though you also don't have to get super dressed up if you're looking for a retail job. Try to make yourself look presentable, like you're put together and responsible. You're going to figure out what kind of job you want to say you're interviewing for, and then use your best judgment as to how you look.

"And then you're going to sit down for an interview with me," Kitty went on. "Normally you're going to want to show up fifteen minutes early to fill out paperwork, and don't be late. If you can't help but be late, call and tell them or see if you can reschedule. If you have a copy of a resume, bring it, along with two forms of ID. Last week I handed out job applications, which they'd make you fill out here. Interviewing is a lot of paperwork, sorry. They want to know about your experience and schooling and people who can vouch for you, which by the way, you can always use me for. And then once that's done, they'll bring you in to talk about yourself. So, go get ready, and then I'll call you in."

Bobby Drake and the canon answer to where he ends up is honestly kind of depressing so let's not think about that oh my god

Astrid was from an entirely different decade (century, really) with no idea how to really dress herself in anything that wasn't hand-me-downs or just foisted on her by someone else, with no discernible direction for her future.

So this was a little difficult, as she didn't even know where to start with what was presentable for a job interview, or even what sort of job she'd think she'd like to interview for.

Maybe she'd make it up as she went along. Maybe she'd just go with the one professional job her mother actually held, as an editor at an entertainment magazine, but you'd better believe, whatever it was going to be, it would involve a blazer and a pencil skirt.

Beaker always had a snazzy tie on (for his definition of snazzy, anyway) and he was ready for anything!

Just not an interview. Interviews were not going to be Beaker's forte.

And so Astrid, not really able to put it off any longer, went ahead to pursue her first job interview, which was interesting, considering she actually had two jobs.

Both, she was pretty sure, had been offered mostly out of pity. She supposed there were careers based on worse than that.

"Hello," she said, looking very Single Female Lawyer in her blazer and skirt, which she adjusted perhaps a little awkwardly, "I'm here to interview for the..."

She still hadn't picked something and, in the moment she thought she'd be able to just blurt something out, she just went blank instead.

"...job."

Help.

"Very well, thank you," said Astrid, nodding as she took the hand in a grip that was light at first but then strengthened as she already heard Ingrid's criticism of it in her head. "I'm very excited to be considered for..."

Come on, Astrid. Think of something. Anything.

"This position."

Sigh.

"And how are you?"
