Problem Solving and You! - Thursday

The classroom was once again a tavern this time around. Which was what the class needed for the subject. Although, there was a pretty random chalkboard with 'Getting Out Of Conversations' written on it. Which was weird.

With 'sometimes with punching' written just below it in different handwriting. If was up to the students to figure out which was which teacher. It was a mystery.

So mysterious. "Small talk is stupid and you shouldn't have to do it," Cara said. "Unfortunately some people will insist on it." Usually people who couldn't take a hint in her case.

"Sometimes you gotta get information from an NPC, but you super don't care about anything else. You need to learn how to get yourself out of that talk subtly." Because clearly Magnus knew subtle, kids.

"I usually find punching subtle enough." Mystery solved! "Or jumping out a window. Or throwing someone out a window."

"Let's practice that!" If you thought he'd turn down the chance to get thrown out a window... You'd be wrong.

Magnus cleared his throat, clearly getting into character. "Good evening, Miss! Would you like to discuss local politics and then religion?"

Cara didn't even bother to say anything before grabbing Magnus by the shirt and heaving him out the tavern window. Pay attention to her form, kids, and remember to lift with your knees.

A thumbs up appeared from just outside that now busted window. "Now you kids partner up and try! It's cool, there's a crash pad like in the movies out here!"

There. Now it was safe.

While Sidon didn't exactly believe that the art of defenestration was the most effective method of escaping an unpleasant or unnecessary conversation, he was going to be chuckling with amusement over this particular assignment, as he was pretty sure there was only one person in the class who could come close to managing to pitch him out of a window.

He was very eager to be proven wrong, though, and would have only the highest of respect for anyone willing to try.

"SIDON!" Was it Yang? Yang would bet it was her. "I'll throw you out the window if you throw me!"

It totally was Yang! That was a bet she would easily win.

Sidon had to laugh, grinning brightly at her. "Now, that sounds like a fair deal if I've ever heard one!" he declared. "Brilliant! You know, I've never been thrown out a window before! I must say, the prospect of the experience feels oddly exhilarating, and I can think of no one better to rise to the task!"

"I've been tossed into a lot of walls, or trees, or, well, anything stationary, but no windows yet," Yang said cheerfully, quickly pulling her hair up into a ponytail to keep it out of Sidon's way. "Toss me, first?"

That way she could get an idea of how much heft she might need to get Sidon to clear the window.

And, luckily, the window did seem big enough for a Sidon-sized projectile.

"Should I give you a warning first?" he asked. "Oh, or better yet, in consideration of the lesson itself, you can begin to tell me about something dreadfully boring, and then, when I've just about had enough of it, I'll make my move!"

Yang just grinned and winked.

"There are over twenty different types of Grimm that are common for Hunters to encounter," she began to drone, imitating her most sleep-inducing professors from Patch. "Academically speaking, sources vary on--"

It was going to be dry, boring, rambling, and not even about the interesting parts of Grimm, like their powers.

If he was honest, Sidon actually did find it a little interesting; he certainly was curious to know more as Yang talked. But, in the spirit of the exercise, he nodded along a little and even pantomimed having to hold back a yawn, waiting for just the right moment when he could just barely take a second more...

...there it was! So there was Sidon, swooping in, trying to be careful but not too careful, to pick Yang up and toss her straight out that window.

It was no throwing someone into the sea, but close enough!

Keyleth would absolutely take jumping out of a window as an acceptable means of bailing on an awkward conversation, and would likely just go ahead and do that without any preamble whatsoever.

Though that probably wasn’t a good way to just start off the entire encounter at all, and she should probably wait until someone at least tried to start a conversation first, so she was mostly just standing around looking nervous and ready to bolt.
