A New You, Tuesday, Period Two
So, the good news? Today, the Danger Shop seemed to be more or less cooperating with Fjord.
The bad news? Students were stepping into it, and directly into a jail cell. The bars looked sturdy, there was a window to the outside world a little too high up the wall to be convenient, and your jailer, an aging human gentleman who was seated across the room with a hawkish look in his eye and a crossbow in his hands, didn't look terribly thrilled to be there with them.
Fjord was at least kind enough to be on the inside of the bars with the students for this lecture. Didn't want to trip too many concerns right off the bat, did he?
"Congratulations," he informed the group once they all settled in. "You seem to have been arrested." He looked them all over and smirked faintly. "Today, you'll be meeting your companions for the first time. Whatever landed you here, from being caught for an actual crime to simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time is going to be up to you, but I'd love for you to share what that reason was with me, if not with the class, so that I know what I'm working with going forward. What I'd like from today is twofold, but the direction this takes is, of course, going to be up to you. First, you'll have to get to know one another, at least enough to figure out how to put your classmates' talents and your own to use in this situation. Second, you'll have to get the hell out of here. Whether y'all stage a jailbreak or try to find a more legitimate means of egress is going to be left up to you. You've got the means of getting out of here one way or another between you."
He spread his hands, and then grinned and stepped backwards through the bars as if they were simply mist. This wasn't a Fjord trick so much as agood roll to see if the Danger Shop was cooperating this morning quirk of the program to allow him to follow the group wherever today took them, but damn if it wasn't fun to do.
"So... Jatila, Yelden, Seros, Kriv, Edor, and..." He waved vaguely at Trevor. "Chevy." This was what happened when you didn't give him a name, Trevor. "What do you do?"

In Jail! Make a Plan!
[OOC: And if you could describe what people see when they look at your characters so that
I can draw them at some pointthe danger shop knows what kind of disguises to slap on you, please do! Besides that, just have fun. Use whatever tools you have available to you, don't be afraid to roll a perception check or whatever - make an OOC note at the end of your ping saying you need the DM to provide details about things as you explore, and I'll be on that. We can keep SP going on this until next week if we need, so feel free to try a few things to see what works! Let the threads get messy, I'M GAME.]Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
PromptoSeros was feeling glad he'd decided to go with a hooded cloak; he was definitely going to need a moment to hide in that hood to fully manage to get a good brood going, especially since Real Life Video Game class was only making him smirk like an idiot as it got started. He'd decided to lean in hard to the whole ice-mage thing, and underneath those dark blue robes and cloak, the party would find a tall, lanky fellow with porcelain-pale skin and cheekbones that could cut glass, long white hair that would usually be dangling in front of his piercing blue eyes like a curtain. Brighter than his usual eyes, but not by much, really.
And he was leaning against the wall of the cell, arms folded in front of him, brooding and watching the other with guarded caution. And the occasional smirk or snort, as Prompto's resolved slipped a little and he had to remind himself that he was brooooding! Brooding! He cleared his throat a little and narrowed his eyes to latch back onto Seros and his brooding, brooding, ridiculously brooding self, waiting to see what the other might have to say or do...
...while brooding.
And he was there because...well, he hadn't figured that part out quite yet. Probably because he iced a guy. Yeah, that was probably it. Iced the wrong guy, and it didn't turn out too hot for him. Or something.
It was a work in progress.
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
LanaJatila was mildly annoyed that she'd ended up here. It hadn't even been her fault this time! This is what she got for relying on humans. She took a deep breath and tried not to narrow her yellow eyes too much; she should be going for pleasant here, not looking like she belonged behind bars. If she was lucky, she could talk her way out of this - just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
She straightened her dark green vest, tightening it to more of a bustier, and slung her dark grey cloak back over her shoulders to reveal her long dark hair and clear bronze skin. There was a hint of scales on her neck and around her ears.
She took a look around at the others here. Maybe they'd be useful.
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
(And not that Keyleth knew this, but starting off this in-class adventure with a trip to jail? Was going to be useful life experience for later.)
She was pacing the length of the cell, probably stepping over people here and there, and trying to remind herself that she couldn't just turn into a rat and slip through the bars to go find the key, or try to see if she could use magic to start digging a tunnel, even if that was her first instinct.
Oh, maybe this character class had been a mistake. She had no idea what to do here.
"Someone could maybe get up on my shoulders to see if they can take a look at the window?" she suggested after a moment. "But we should probably distract the guy out there at the same time, too."
She really wanted to be doing the distraction, but no, she'd had to go and play against type.
(It was fine, Keyleth, you could just think of it as training for when you figure out how to turn into an earth elemental later.)
[[It is definitely going to be SP from me, I'm sorry.]]
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
"I'm on it," she said, giving them all a winning smile and going to talk to the jailer.
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
The jailer, an elderly human man who was cradling a crossbow in his lap and sitting in a creaky wooden chair across the room, far out of the reach of anyone in the jail cell, simply raised an eyebrow at the Yuan-Ti as she made her way toward the bars.
And then he spat on the floor. Maybe because he didn't realize there wasn't a spitoon there to spit into. Maybe he was just rude. Who knew?
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
Jatila ignored it and smiled at him. "Could you please tell me what I'm being held for? I really don't think I belong here. I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding."
[My very first roll with new dice, eee! 14, nomal cha modifier is +2, but I have +4 Deception or Persuasion)]
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
The old man squinted. And then leaned forward and squinted a little bit more.
And then, in a squawking voice that could have made nails on chalkboard sound pleasant, he screeched, "EH? YOU'LL 'AVE TER SPEAK UP, MISSY."
... Sorry, Jatilla. But not that sorry.
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
No, no - she was being Jatila. Who didn't have lightning. Or the ability to just pull the guy over and take his keys.
She spoke a bit louder. "I think I'm here because of a misunderstanding. Could you please let me out? Or tell me who I need to speak to in order to get out?"
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
"The orc's got the gout?" He turned a speculative look toward a vaguely bemused Fjord. "Naw, naw, see over there, 'E looks fine ter me!"
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
Re: In Jail! Make a Plan!
Thank you, jailer.
In Jail! Get Out Again!
... Or if someone just decides to go for it, as people sometimes do. Whatever floats all your boats, really.
Talk to Fjord!
OOC!
The rest of you either have sheets up on DnD Beyond like smartypants (Yelden and Jatila) or don't have them yet/are planning on just winging it. If those of you without DnD Beyond sheets would like to give a crack at making them, that would be awesome! If you need an assist with doing so, I would be happy to give you one. If you would like to wing it without sheets, all power to you; the sheets are mostly for personal reference if you want it, and for any players who might want to give getting through this class as some nominal D&D experience to go ahead and noodle with.
Seros, your messy screencaps are here - Weapons and Armor, Traits, Proficiencies, Spells (Cantrips and 1st Level expanded), Features, Equipment
And Edor, yours are here - Weapons and Armor, Proficiencies, Spells, Features, Equipment -- You didn't fill your traits out so there was no need to cap 'em, and I can expand on any of those spells if you need me to, or we can just google those suckers.
