An Excuse for Field Trips, Wednesday, 4th Period
Class had been handwavily sent messages to meet at Portalocity, and Hannibal and Jono greeted them when they showed up.
"Hello." Hannibal, in his bespoke plaid three-piece suit, smiled at the students he knew and nodded to the ones he didn't. "I see we have some new faces. I am Doctor Hannibal Lecter. I am a psychiatrist and former surgeon and I often teach classes involving food here at Fandom."
//And I'm Jonothon Starsmore,// Jono added, clad in a rather more casual outfit involving a pair of blue jeans, a grey scarf, and a black leather jacket over a faded old Pearl Jam t-shirt. Somehow, these two men were married. //Jono or Jon will do. Mr. Starsmore if you absolutely have to lean into formality, I suppose. I am... nothing half as exciting as a psychiatrist or a surgeon,// said the occasional superhero, //but I do run the music shop in town.//
You were getting such a side-eye for that, Jono. "This class was meant to be the same as a previous one we taught - Creative Inspirations," Hannibal said. "We visited a number of interesting places and encouraged our students to produce some form of art they were inspired to." He sighed. "The office moose, apparently, had other ideas, so you'll be forgiven if you aren't prepared to be artistic."
//Probably for the best,// Jono mused. //There's an arts and crafts class already, and I'm shite with visual art.//
"But not with music," Hannibal pointed out. Jono, was he going to have to forbid you from talking down about yourself? Honestly now.
It was simply a statement of fact! Jono didn't feel comfortable judging the merits of art forms he didn't fully comprehend.
//True. I'm good with music,// Jono agreed with a shrug. //In any case, this isn't an art class. Which means we get that much more time in our school period to explore our destinations. In fact, as we're at the end of the school day and there aren't any classes to get to after the fact, we'll often stick around after class, should you wish to stay for an extra little while yourselves.//
"If the local language isn't English - or at least, the current language we're speaking - we'll let you know how to navigate. If you ever have any questions, please ask us," Hannibal said. "Today, we'll be staying within the same country we are nominally already in, and a place that isn't far from Fandom, although we'll be visiting a different version of it."
//I'm not in the mood for an image inducer today,// Jono explained, waving at the whole of himself. //And not about to subject any of our non-human students to one, either. So we'll be visiting the National Mall. Just not in this America.//
Not his either. Honestly. He wanted his class to also get back from the field trip alive.
And not Hannibal's, either. For...a few reasons, actually.
"This version of America is fairly used to aliens and other species, so none of you should merit a second glance for that," Hannibal assured them. "Although, speaking of strangers - some of you are to me, and I'm certain some of you are to each other as well. So, before we step through the portal, please introduce yourselves to us."
//Name,// Jono said, //anything about yourself you might want to share with the class... let's go with somewhere you've always wanted to visit, maybe we'll be able to make it happen.//
There were like seven kids in their class. Odds were pretty okay that they'd be able to take a crack at a few of them, anyhow.

Lecture!
Well. Maybe if they tried.
Re: Lecture!
They'd found an Earth she wouldn't get stared at. They were kind of her heroes right now.
And okay, the fire thing was neat, too.

How was he even alive?
Introductions!
Re: Introductions!
She liked exploring. Bonus points if there was a chance for mischief.
"And there's a pirate world back in my galaxy," she added, grinning a little. "Nice beaches, great rainforests, everything else is mostly built up out of salvage and rusted scrap. A real junkhole, but exciting. I kind of want to go somewhere like that."
Bonus points if there were actual pirates there.

Re: Introductions!
Other galaxies would be cool. Just not Andromeda, or she’d feel like that was old hat and get stuck in the Milky Way for the Reaper invasion.
Re: Introductions!
//Welcome aboard, Peebee,// he replied easily. //We'll see if we can come up with something new this semester, hm? You'll have to let us know how we can do better as we go.//

She considered for a moment. "I can't rightly say as where I might want to go. I'll have to think on that. But pretty much anywhere seems pretty amazin' and exotic to me."

Field Trip!
Just try not to ogle any non-humans that might be meandering about. They're just tourists, too.
Re: Field Trip!
She'd wound up at the National Museum of the American Indian, and spent her time wandering around there, quietly in awe of the rich history she was being presented with, and biting back a growing sense of melancholy at some of the exhibits that were hitting a little close to home.
Re: Field Trip!
Also, this world only had one moon. He hadn't been out after dark to notice that before this. And these people had actually visited theirs. Excuse him while he had to collapse on a bench and get his mind around that.

Talk to the Teachers!
Re: Talk to the Teachers!
Not that he was difficult to spot with his scarf not wrapped around his face. He'd try to refrain from covering up his flames, just so long as people here continued not giving a damn.
... It was weird.
Re: Talk to the Teachers!
Or possibly just Jono.
OOC!
... Also, pretend the reality they went to also has a functioning government at the moment and all the museums are open and running as usual!
Re: OOC!
While we're dreaming.
