Badass Women You Should Know- Monday- 2nd period

They were in the classroom one last time, which Brooke was actually a little sad about. Also, relieved she survived.

"It's our last class, and hipefylly you've learned some things," she began. "We're not doing a traditional final, because it feels messed up to spring that on you when I can't remember dates to save my life. So instead, you're getting a little essay to do in class. I want you to pretend you've lived a full life and get to be a topic of this class, and write what you'd want me to say about you. What have you done? What kind of accomplishments do you have under your belt? How have you helped people, or been generally awesome? Once you finish, feel free to leave and enjoy the rest of your day!"

Vette kind of grimaced as she looked at her paper. She supposed she could skip over her life thus far; as awesome as it was to have escaped from slavery only to join with a notorious pirate gang and become an accomplished treasure hunter all by the age of fifteen, there were some things she'd rather not just... write down and put to paper.

So she skipped over most of that and just focused on the treasure part, explaining that the relics of her people were often stolen from her homeworld and kept in private collections across the galaxy, and that she and other like-minded Twi'leks dedicated their lives to finding those relics and returning them to their people, where they belonged.

Still badass. A little less... uh... personal.

She maybe wrote it out twice, though, finding it easier to write it down in Aurebesh before spending the last half of class painstakingly translating it over to something the teacher could actually read. No early end to class for Vette.

Astrid knew and understood how other people could be incredible and badass, and if this essay would have been to write about other people she looked up to and admired and thought were amazing, then she'd have no problem filling up several pages of paper with deep and insightful praise.

But the idea that she would ever accomplish anything good enough to be a topic in a class like this was something that would really cause her brain to short-circuit a little bit. That required an awful lot of imagination, and, her mother always said, ad nauseum, Astrid had absolutely no imagination.

Even her dreams were modest, but that's what she ended up writing about, that her full future life involved creating these incredibly unique and thoughtful pieces of art that evoked emotions and perspectives in people that they never knew they had, and she traveled the world, mostly inspiring other people and helping to cultivate the hidden talents of people who might not otherwise have a voice, finding people who, like her, might not have much chance in the world unless someone helped to break down a few walls and build them back up with their own work instead.

Which was...more than what she'd expected when she started it, so she was a little surprised, because she didn't think that was half bad, really.
