It would be pretty evident to nearly anyone walking into the classroom that day that Rosa's mood was not...the best, one of anger simmering just below the barely-held-together surface. Enough that she almost wanted to cancel class today, but, whatever, there were only two more classes left, she could pull two more classes out of her butt just to say that she did it, and it wasn't the class that was making her angry, anyway. It was this goddamn island.

"So we were going to do something awesome today," she informed the class through a tight jaw, "that involved a lot of daggers and knives. But, of course...."

She plopped a bulk of something in black cloth on the desk at the front of the classroom, which should have made a very satisfying clunk of metal, and did no such thing, as she rolled the cloth away to reveal an impressive collection of candy canes of all shapes and sizes and colors. Which she angrily gestured to and would let that speak for itself.

Only four days in, and Rosa was already tired of your shit, December.

"So instead we're doing knots." Where was she hiding all that rope that she now plopped on top of the candy canes? Who even knew? "Knots are important to know, because it's easier to get out of one if you know how it works." Because so many people spent enough of their lives needing to get out of being tied to something, obviously. "So we're going to go over some knots everyone should know and how to make them. And then I'm splitting you up into pairs, one of you will tie the other one up to a chair while the person tied up tries to figure out how to get out of it. If you have time, you can keep switching and trying different knots."

With a curled lip, she glared down at the candy canes. "Without the use of a blade. Obviously."

Well, Vette was maybe a teeny bit disappointed that today wasn't going to involve stabby things, but at least getting out of a being-tied-up situation was a useful life skill to have, too.

And at this point she was pretty sure there wasn't even a point to pretending not to be too good at any of this. Maybe she'd have fun with it anyway.

Peebee managed to successfully -- if barely -- stifle a snicker at the candy canes, then spent a few minutes during the lecture trying to get her omni-tool to replicate a blade.

The upshot of this was that she ended up with a 3-D printed candy cane protruding from the glowing orange interface around her left wrist, which was amusing anyway.

Oh, dear. That was something. Well, knots could be useful, Lana supposed. If she were ever kidnapped by someone who didn't have access to technology and didn't know about the Force.

So, on Fandom, maybe.

Practice your knots, then tie each other up to chairs and try to escape! Totally normal class activities!

"Dibs on tying knots," Vette announced. Sure, that was what she was meant to be doing anyway, but she wanted to make sure she was damn clear for whoever her partner wound up being.

She didn't particularly want to get tied up anyway.

"Fiiiine," Paris groused. Even though that was what was supposed to happen.

"Having experience getting free'll be good for you anyway," Vette quipped. "In case you find yourself tied up and about to get trounced by puppies or whatever."

"The puppies surprised me," Paris huffed.

"Because puppies are terrifying," Vette replied, all innocence as she nodded toward the chair. "Here, sit down so I can tie you up and go get a coffee."

Don't think she hadn't considered whittling all those candy canes down into shivs, though. They'd all be shivs right now if she didn't already figure that tomorrow they'd be back to normal and then she'd have screwed up all her cool daggers.

The fact that this one fell on Tuesday makes me the happiest person in the world, you guys.
