Class had been handwavily asked to meet at Portalocity today, and the teachers greeted them when they arrived.

"We've found a place that we can help out and not have to disguise ourselves or pretend we're in costumes," Hera said with no little amount of relief. "So we're heading into that version of the mainland today."

"About kriffing time Portalocity actually pulls through on something," Kanan muttered, and then shook his head and smiled crookedly. "We'll be doing a little bit of construction work today, for an organization called Habitat for Humanoids."

Elsewhere known as 'Humanity,' but again, if you play with the multiverse, you get what you get.

"They build houses for people that need them, and that's what we'll be doing today," Hera said. "Well, we'll probably be doing more carrying things for people than actual building, but anything we can do will help. If you have any particular skills you can use, please let us or the foreman in charge know." She smiled. "We'll be building this house for a family that hasn't had one since their last one was flooded out; this is one way communities band together to help each other, and they'll be happy to have anyone help that can."

"Oh," Kanan said, grinning a little as he waved the students through the portal. "And safety equipment isn't optional."

Fortunately, because of the nature of this place, there should even be... something... for Sidon.

Luckily, Sidon had already had plenty of experience with the insistence that came along with safety equipment from his rock climbing class, so though he did find it a bit of a strange inconvenience, it wasn't anything he was going to gripe or complain about it. At least it seem to fit well enough and made sense as an important precaution, unlike, say, some certain insistent rules regarding, oh, swim trunks in the onsen.

Or carry things to the site, or do electrical work or plumbing if you have experience there. You do you, just do you helpfully.

Sabine had more experience with electrical stuff than she did building, and it was more interesting than carrying. Besides, maybe she could learn some more about it while she was working.

Sidon would be more than happy to leave anything electrical to those more inclined, especially since he actually enjoyed the carrying (especially in seeing just how much he could manage in one trip). There were also quite a few opportunities to take care of some things that other might have needed a ladder for, too, so he spent his time divided between various tasks where his size and strength could be put to use to the fullest advantage.

Lana's experience with electricity wasn't terribly helpful, but she could lift large loads for them with the Force, and though some of the workers seemed a little startled by it, nobody said anything, so that's what she would be doing.

It was odd to be doing this for one family, but communal building at least made sense to her.

Even if her experience with building had mostly been doing repairs on herself, Breq had built temporary shelters, and she had also taken Amaya's class, so she asked the foreman what she could do. She ended up spending the class putting up interior walls, impressing some of the builders with the speed she was doing it with.

Kanan actually wore the hard hat pretty well. It wasn't like he hadn't done his fair share of construction work over the years, after all.

He was opting to swing a hammer and pull heavy lifting whenever someone asked him to, so that was where you would find him if you needed him.

Hera was just happy to find a hat that fit over her lekku without crushing them. She didn't have much construction knowledge, but she was happy to make coffee for everyone.

Then she was happy to just help carrying things and helping with paperwork, when she was politely kicked off coffee duty.

Sabine was here, and once again regretting not bringing her helmet. So much better than their equipment.

The cats had the zoomies all night. If I had known I wasn't going to get sleep anyway, I would've stayed up until three listening to Critical Role after all.
