Bad Ass Bitch Survival Guide; Tuesday, Second Period [10/30].

"Tomorrow's Halloween," Rosa informed the class by way of greeting from where she was perched on the top of the desk at the front of the classroom, "which means a lot of dumb costumes, too much candy, and, since it's on a Wednesday, maybe slightly less of a need for the class we did on hangovers. Slightly. But for the past five years, Halloween has also sort of meant something else back at my usual precinct, and that's a Heist. Now, since it's obviously clear I'm probably not going to get to participate in this year's," not that she cared or was a little bitter about it, or anything, "I'm living vicariously through you guys by making you do one. That's what all these last few lessons have been about: stealth, picking locks, distractions. You'll probably need them all if you have any intention of winning.

"The goal?" Rosa hopped off the desk, started pacing like a captain giving orders to her troops befre sending them out into battle. "A hatchet. I've planted a hatchet somewhere in one of the offices of your teachers. I'm not telling you where; I'm not giving you hints. The other teachers know you'll be riffling through their crap this week and some of them have taken steps to ensure that it's not too easy for you."

The fact that so many other teachers were willing to sacrifice their office for a whole week for some dumb game said an awful lot about just how much those offices got regular use, she felt.

"Of course, once the hatchet is found, that's no guarantee that it might not then be taken from you by one of your fellow students. It doesn't end when the hatchet is found; It starts as soon as I dismiss you from this class, and it ends next week, in this classroom, with whoever has it in her possession at that time. Fair warning, there is only one true hatchet; you'll know it when you see it, and a few decoys.

"And that's all you get." Rosa shrugged her shoulders. "No lesson today, just get started on planning. Ask me questions if you want before you go, but there's no guarantee I'll have an answer for you. You're on your own. Or not, if you decide to team up, but just remember, if you do, there still can only be one winner."

She folded her arms in front of her and looked at them with a faint note of expectation. "So, any one got questions?"

It was all Vette could do to keep from gasping outright at this challenge. This was what she'd been trained for, after all, and now she found herself sadly torn between throwing her all into this and getting that damn hatchet, or keeping just how good she was at this stuff under wraps for a little longer.

... Well, maybe it couldn't hurt to dabble in it a little bit...

Peebee might have been doing a little gleeful hand-rubbing there while she listened. Just a little.

Okay, a lot.

Yes good Sabine was wholeheartedly into this! She was paying attention to the directions, but she was already ready to go.

"Yeah, does this gotta be solo, or can we partner-up?" Yang could Hunt just fine on her own, thanks, but she knew damn well that teams were more efficient for complex jobs.

Yup. Vette was all but vibrating in her seat with indecision, here, looking around at her classmates, her competition, and then finally just standing up outright.

"Anybody want a sidekick?"

Happy medium? Happy medium.

"Yes," Paris said immediately because she knew he strengths and lock-picking wasn't one of them.

Terrifying, laser-like focus on a goal? Yes. Lockpicking, nooooot so much.

Poor Vette. She had no idea what she was getting herself into when she breathed out a little sigh of relief, happy to be able to actually throw herself into something without worrying too much about seeming too... competent, or something... and then pointed over at Paris.

"Then my talents are at your disposal. Lead me, oh leader."

"Excellent," Paris said. "First we need to do some recon work."

Look at her, pretending she knew the lingo.

"We need to figure out what teachers' offices are where and which seem most likely to be booby-trapped already. I have zero faith that we'd come out alive if we broke into Deadpool's place, for instance. He's crazy, and not in a fun way."

"I'm a big fan of avoiding the not-fun crazy," Vette announced, smiling brightly. "But scoping out enemy territory is something I've got a bit of experience with. I'm small and sneaky."

It had been great back in her wee little pirate days.

That was very nice of you, Paris. Really.

"They always do," Vette replied, grinning. "I've got nothing I need to be doing tonight. Let's go case some offices."

She was already enjoying this far too much.

"That would be tough to explain away," Paris said dryly. "I meant clothing that we'd blend in wearing."

At a school. So...regular clothing, Paris.

"... So we dress as lockers with holes cut into the bottoms for our feet, huh?"

Vette was kind of thinking along the same lines as the narrative. Really, what was even 'blending in' around here?

Re: Plotting - BABSG, 10/30.

Vette considered that carefully, and was actually halfway to figuring out a way to do it - though it would involve actually removing the lockers from the school walls - before shaking her head and smiling lopsidedly.

"We can just wear dark clothes."

Which would blend in with exactly no part of the school itself, but heck, she wasn't actually going to worry about that part too much.

"We can work on more serious school camo once we're done our recon run," Vette agreed, grinning.

She'd totally end up dressing them both like Fosse one of these days, just see if she didn't.
