How to Make Friends & Influence People | 4th Period | Monday

There was only one teacher in the classroom today and, well, Carter honestly wasn't sure where Fjord had gotten off to. Still, that wasn't the sort of thing to share with the class, so he smiled gently at them, tucking his concern away.

"Good morning," he said, "it's just me today, so I thought we would keep it simple. This past weekend some of you had parents and friends from home visit, while some of you didn't. I won't ask which of you were which."

It really wasn't any of his business, unless they wanted to speak to him about it.

"This past weekend was about friends and family coming here, to see how you lived and worked on the island," he continued, still smiling. "So I thought that today, we would turn it about. If you were to bring the class to your world, what would you show them? What would you do for fun?"

Carter folded his hands in front of him. "Let's talk about this today. And should you wish to not share anything about your home, that is quite alright as well--ask your classmates about theirs."

Simon nodded. "Or, I guess, like... I mean, there are definitely better restaurants out there," he explained, "and if I were trying to teach someone about the food back home, I might take them somewhere else? But Waffle House is an institution! So it's, like, culturally significant."

Also, waffles.

Waffles were generally a pretty good argument for going anywhere, it was true.

Carter nodded his head. "And teaching someone about your world isn't truly the point of this exercise. What we do to teach and what we show our friends are often completely different things. Where would you go after the Waffle House?"

Considering this for a moment, Simon suggested, "Maybe just back to my place? Or maybe to Nick or Leah's -- they're friends of mine from back home. And just spend an evening, like, chilling and watching Netflix and playing video games."

So, so many nights playing video games with Nick and Leah.

"I have had the distinct pleasure," said Sidon with a smile when his turn came around, "of having invited some friends from the island to my home in the past, and I very much hope to have the opportunity to do so again, as I found it to be a truly wonderful experience, and I should very much hope that they felt very much the same about it! I would be truly honored to have the glorious chance to introduce anyone to the sheer splendor this is Zora's Domain! Now," here he chuckled a little, "I understand that I am the supreme epitome of biased on this particular subject, but I believe it would take quite the spectacular place to convince me that there is anywhere as beautiful and marvelous. The Zora architecture alone is unlike anything I've yet to see so far, and don't even get me started on the waterfalls! From the very top of the mountains, it feels like you can see all of Hyrule! My home is a truly magnificent place, and I am frequently humbled by the simple blessing that I may call it my own."

Hand to his heart, he ducked his head slightly and smiled softly, a quiet little gratitude toward his classmates for listening to his testimony.

"I enjoyed the visit very much."

She had seen places equal to Zora in splendour of course, but wasn't going to mention that.

Breq kept silent, calmly listening to the others, her face carefully arranged in a pleasant expression. If anyone asked, she'd say, truthfully, that she had no home.

"Kaas City," Lana said. She couldn't take everybody to Korriban if she wanted to. "It's the Empire's capital. The city on its own is fairly impressive, and I could show everyone the Imperial Museum, to understand our history and culture."
