Okay, so Miguel had spent yesterday at the onsen, reviewed the "class materials" he had, and been inspired.

"There are a lot of films about time machines," he started. "And we're not even counting whatever it is Portalocity does, just normal, travels-through-time-in-the-same-timeline stuff. There's also a lot of different ways to make one. So, here. I'll show you two different movie clips, and you can decide which one you want to go for. Use Victorian electronics, or a hot tub. Then we can discuss which one is more unlikely."

Norman watched the clips. Considered his options.

And then decided he'd probably go for the Victorian one if only because he didn't need to wear a swimsuit for it.

See, now this was a class very relevant to Astrid's interests that didn't make her feel weird. And while her situation apparently put her in the 'whatever it is Portalocity does' category, she was interested in the other apparent methods, too.

Even if she was pretty sure the hot tub one couldn't even remotely be possible. But what the hell did she know? It wasn't like any of it made any actual sense anyway.

...if this worked, Astrid wouldn't hesitate to go back to a time before her mom killed a guy, and then none of this would have happened, she'd have never been sent here, and then everything could go back to the way they were.

...but of course it wasn't going to work, because Astrid had no idea what she was doing and was just pretending to be trying just to get through to the end of class. But in the off-chance that her rather stylistic and now clearly just putting things together for aesthetic and artistic appeal attempts at a Victorian-style time machine actually did lead to something...that would be...shocking, but she'd take it in a heartbeat.

If anything, though, you can bet her time machine looked cool as hell.

"I gave it a pinwheel," said Astrid, who pushed said pinwheel and sent it spinning for a few seconds, and she shrugged. "I think if I were to paint a spiral on it, that would be the key to actually making it work."

Hey. Give her some credit, that made just about as much sense as the hot tub.

"Oh, right," said Astrid, stopping the pinwheel, giving it a half-hearted push in the other direction. "My bad. Well, I guess that's why you're the teacher."

Beaker tried with the hot tub, which he managed to use to set a very small and contained (...ish) fire in record time for him, really.

"Meep meep meep!"

Sorry, Miguel.

"Meep meep meep meep!" Beaker said enthusiastically, racing off for more supplies.

This would somehow end in more explosives. He had a gift.
