All Things Summer- Monday- 1st period

Kitty had come very close to just canceling class today, but if anyone showed up, maybe they'd want a distraction. Of course, considering the weekend and what had been following her the whole time, she also wasn't going anywhere near the Danger Shop, so. Regular classroom today.

"So this weekend was terrible, and sometimes we're allowed to not work so hard," Kitty greeted them. "So let's watch Space Battles and go with that."

With that, she turned on the movie.

Peridot was surprisingly not as traumatized by the weekend as she could have been. If the worst the island was going to throw at her was a large teddy bear and a montage of the most expensive things she'd smashed in Steven's bedroom, then comparatively, she was doing pretty okay.

She was a little concerned about where Pumpkin might have run off to, but the radio had said something about a detective, so she wasn't even worrying too hard about that.

Nope. She was going to just sit back and watch the movie, and-- whelp. That was a whole planet, exploded. There came the trauma.

Astrid had thought about skipping class today, but what else was she going to do? Stay in bed, where the nightmares had continued, where all of her strange little cuts and bruises seemed to suggest that there was something tangible about what happened in the woods? The bruises from all the times she fell and wedged herself into hiding spots, the little cuts from branches and trees, perhaps, but each one reminded her of the hallucinations and what they said. If anything, maybe class could distract her...

A foolish hope, really, as the movie couldn't hold her attention, as her gaze kept drifting dully elsewhere, toward the windows, imagining how they should probably have bars over them, but they didn't need them to establish that she deserved to be here, this was probably just some dressed up detention center because they didn't know where else to put her, that her mother probably chose for her because she couldn't even stand being in the same state as her anymore, but she couldn't be straight up sent out of the country.

When she started to feel tears starting to gather in her eyes, Astrid blinked and turned her attention to the movie screen for a little while, not really paying attention, but it was something different to look at for a while, focusing on shifting colors as scenes changed, and at least the stars of outer space and the bright bolts from lasers were pretty.
