Phys Ed Part 2, Tuesday

The weather was pretty dreary out, so today class remained indoors. Which was for the best, honestly. No one needed to catch a cold from this.

"Welcome back," Tony said, giving the class a quick smile. "We're gonna take it easy today. No running for you."

Steve looked really disappointed by the lack of running. Weirdo. "We're going to tell you about some games you can play inside when the weather isn't cooperating," he said.

"Board games are always fun," Tony said. "Cards. Or... Heads Up, 7-Up?"

He literally had to Google that because there was no way the guy who grew up in the Great Depression or the guy who went to posh boarding schools ever played it.

"I thought 7-Up was a soda," Steve said, looking confused. "And I can totally show some of you how to play poker!"

That would lead to badness.

It was probably better than being taught to count cards by Tony? Probably.

"We've set up a few little areas for board games if you want to group up for them," Tony said, gesturing around the room. "But first, a very important video about staying safe with lightning."

Seriously, they made Steve do a lot of these.

Steve groaned. "You found that one too?"

"It's helpful for them!" And amusing for Tony.

"If you're not a god of thunder, don't mess with lightning, kids," Steve said.

Don't worry, Steve; you weren't alone in being a weirdo sad about no running that day. Astrid was kind of right there with you.

Her reaction to the PSA, however, as could be expected, was just the opposite of his. Lightning? Really? Oh, that was just fantastic. She really, really hoped there was a whole series of them that specifically covered natural disasters now. And if there weren't? There should be.

Even though she wasn't sure if it would be the big draw it always was at her schools growing up, literally always the first game everyone clamored for during indoor recess, but Astrid definitely had her eye on the Guess Who? box.

Of course, a game wasn't much good without someone to play with, so she was also seeing what others might pick out or who might be free to play. She had a marginally better chance of actually playing with someone, too, instead of just sitting in a corner with a pack of cards like she was used to doing.

Steve was sitting with a deck of cards and a hopeful look on his face. C'mon, kids, come play for M&Ms!

"What's this poker game like?" Theron asked, all fresh-faced innocence that was only a little faked. He wanted to know if it was closer to pazaak or sabacc.

"It depends on the type of poker we're playing," Steve said. "I like playing Three Card Draw, personally. Do you have gambling where you're from?"

"Some, but I've never really done any myself." He'd just watched Master Zho at work.

Steve grinned. "Now is that actually true, or are you tryin' to fleece me out of my chocolate?" he asked.

"I've never played poker before," Theron said with complete sincerity.

Steve's eyebrow arched. "Not the same as never gambled, but I can work with that. Grab a seat."
