Laying Low 2.0, Thursday, Period 2
For some reason, Kanan looked the slightest bit twitchy today. It was only a very slight bit, he was usually pretty good at keeping most of his twitchiness under wraps. But it was there all the same.
Twitchy.
"Another scenario today for you," he said to a class that he'd told to meet outside, today. "Let's say it's been about two weeks since something happened and the troopers here in town have started actually not being useless, for a change. The trade-off is that they're looking for all of you, and the orders are shoot-to-kill. You don't have a weapon, you don't have money, you don't have access to the dorms, and anybody in town could potentially recognize you and turn you in."
He waved a hand down from the school grounds toward the town proper.
"But you still have to survive here. You need to eat. You need to sleep, but you're alone and the troopers could stumble over you at any moment. Most of all, you need to get away, and the damn Causeway isn't letting you cross."
He glanced back at the class.
"What do you do? What takes priority? How can you be certain that making sure your needs are met isn't going to get you killed?"

...a solution so elusive that even Sidon himself couldn't think of it!
Survive!
"I'll give you the rest of class to wander the island considering the problem," he shared. "See what you can find. Food, shelter, somewhere to lay low where you can feel reasonably confident you won't be found. A way off the island, ideally. Then come back and we can poke all kinds of holes in whatever you come up with. It'll be fun."
Re: Survive!
"There are enough restaurants that food's easy enough," she said. "Just gotta figure out when they take the trash out for the night."
Look, her mother's restaurant sold wet rot, dry rot, and ooze. Restaurant leavings from that very day were multiple steps up.
Re: Survive!
"You do what you have to do," he agreed. "Most of what those restaurants throw out is still perfectly edible, if slightly used."
That's how he'd done it, after all.

Kanan had to check these things. He was pretty sure what was what she was saying, anyway.

Re: Survive!
Important lessons learned in his time under Kasmir.
Re: Survive!
"So yeah. I'd sleep at the dump and eat after the restaurants closed, and wait till I could escape."
Which would actually be the trivially easy part of all this, which was why she wasn't focusing on it.

Which, given their sudden involvement in Lothal and the residents of Tarkintown, had Kanan squinting a little while he tried to puzzle that one out.

"Now I'm almost afraid to ask what I do strike you as."
Make it good, Sabine. The island was probably listening.

Re: Talk to Kanan!
Especially since he was a shitty little Loth-cat. There was far too much personality to fit into one little tooka.
Re: Talk to Kanan!
You know what, narrative, she'd chosen to be bitter about this for a while.
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Someday, he'd be faintly bemused that even as a wolf, he'd have a Loth- appended to the species name.
And then some day far, far later, maybe it would make sense why.
