Construction 102; Third Period, Friday [07/20].

"Morning, workers!" Amaya greeted the students when they made it to the site, setting aside something that looked almost like a potato lamp and brushing off her hands. "Today, we're going to be working on the electrical aspects and wiring of the building, so we'll be working mostly upstairs in the apartment. Now, where I"m from, we don't even have electricity, so I'm not too proud to admit that I think this particular topic is best explained by someone a bit more familiar, which is why were's going to start out with a video, "she patted her hand on the tube screen on a tall roller cart quintessential to any school experience, "and then we'll head upstairs and get to work."

Short and sweet today, right to business! She'd even brought in a bench so they could sit while they watched, and there was an airpot of coffee in addition to the usual giant orange water cooler. She suspected it might be needed to help get them through the dryness of the video; she realized not everyone could listen to people talk about wires and hookups in excruciating detail all day like she could.

Way more interesting than mushy stories about welders who wanted to be dancers, anyway...

Norman was absolutely clinging to that coffee and wondering how the TV was working without wiring, yes. Maybe she'd run an extension cord from a nearby business or something...?

Oh, this was easy. Wiring here was quite primitive, so of course you had to be sure to do it right, but the video was enough to give Breq the information she needed.

But that screen? Was it from Amaya's world?

Breq quickly began to assemble a few light sockets with switches, then connected it all to a fuse box. Then she deliberately short-circuited the lights to make the fuse blow. At least she had had more complex wiring herself.

I love how the video says this should be done by an electrician and then goes on to show how to do it. A lot of different things to mess up dangerously. ;D

It's great and scary :D And you have a lot of different cables in the US. Plenty of things that can go wrong.
