More Flight and Flying, Monday, July 16, 2018

This session's theme seemed to be "aircraft that had no business flying," if the vehicle waiting for the class in the flight shed was anything to go by.

"This is the HZ-1 Aerocycle," Anakin said, climbing on top of it and starting it up, "built in the 1950s to cruise over minefields without exploding. It doesn't look like it should work, but it does. It can also fly over lakes and ponds. Today we're going to fly this thing out in front of the school, then discuss how we can make it better."

It at least was impressive that it did fly.

Since there were at least a couple of engineers in the class, Anakin had provided paper and pencils for sketching schematics, along with parts for mocking up a prototype.

Sabine did do one quick sketch of this plane exploding. It was cathartic.

But she also did a serious design, which she ended up abandoning halfway through to just draw a jetpack.
