All Things Beach- Monday- 1st period

It was definitely a Danger Shop day today, and today it looked a lot like Hawaii, complete with a surfer boy type standing there, smiling and waving at the class when they came in.

"Today we're going to learn surfing," Kitty told them. "If you know nothing about it, you get a board, you paddle out, and then you stand up and ride the waves and don't fall down."

"There's more to it than that-" the surfer boy started.

"It's a sport that started with the ancient Polynesians, and modern surfing sprang off from that, getting really popular in places like Hawaii and California and Australia in the 50's and 60's," she went on. "I could go onto a whole thing about the history, but it's summer and I don't have my brain turned on so you're just going to listen to this nice guy over here and then try it on your own."

Norman's board was... kind of boring, actually. All black with a green stripe and a few assorted yellow and green paint splatters on it. He mostly just liked the color scheme, admittedly, and wasn't really feeling up for getting any of the more eye-grabbing designs.

He wasn't terribly adventurous, no. The fact that he was going to get on that board and attempt to surf at all was about his limit, there.

They had big boards! Sidon was just over the moon about that little fact, feeling like he would have looked a bit ridiculous and unbalanced on something not exactly intended for someone nearly as tall as the board itself and significantly too heavy for it, too. The fact that it was painted to look like a shark was just an added bonus.

... Actually, this part of the activity was pretty okay, with the not potentially getting thrown off his board by a big wave and drowning. Not that the Danger Shop would let him drown. But Norman probably couldn't get away with just standing on a board on the sand for the entire class period, though.

Sidon always enjoyed learning new things, so learning new things that involved the water was like a double treat for him. He hung on every word out of the instructor's mouth and didn't hesitate even to get down on the sand, especially since he knew they'd take it to the water so the inconvenience of sand would be a short-lived trial.

It was just really fortunate that boards came with leashes. Norman would have lost several by the time he actually managed to ride a wave even for a few seconds.

Of course Sidon took to surfing like a Zora took to water! It took him a few tried, sure, but he understood water, and it didn't take him long to really get a feel for the activity.

And of course he was already plotting on how to bring this sport back home, because he knew the other Zora would love it as well, possibly some of the Lurelin villagers, as well! After all, people surfed on shields all the time back in Hyrule, why not boards on the water as well?

Of course, there was the small detail of the fact that Hyrule didn't exactly have tides or waves, really, but...surely, they could figure something out.
