Anakin stood on the edge of the docks, a dozen rowboats bobbing the water around him. The clouds above were looking threatening (and kind of...not gray, which was odd), but so far the day had been dry. There was a set of bleachers (with canopies above them) set up for any spectators to cheer from, and the ambitious vendors from Mooby's were selling burgers and fries.

"Welcome to our first day of summer camp activities," Anakin yelled through the megaphone he'd acquired from...somewhere. "Our first community building activity will be a teachers versus students rowing race from here to the Isle of Ikea. The winning team receives a Big Mouth Billy Bass because I don't want it in my house any more, and all the Swedish meatballs they can eat. The losers get sore arms and the pleasure of not owning a singing fish award. In the event of a rowboat flipping, our PE instructor Steve Rogers will be out on a jet ski for rescue missions."

He looked at all the contestants. "I'll know if you're capsizing on purpose. Also, he's not that good looking. Contestants, please put on your life preservers while I call out the teams. For the students: Sabine and Beaker, Astrid and Jason, Rufus and Aloy, Theron and Tip, Norman and Khadgar, Peebee and Bobby, and Jaylah and Peridot. For the teachers: Amaya and Tony, Kanan and Magnus, Reno and Jenkins, Cara and Deadpool, and Liam and Zoe. Racers, man--or woman, or other--your ships."

Once everyone was in place, Anakin raised his hand. "On your marks, get set...go!"

...And that was when it started pouring rainbow colored-rain.

"A good plan," Jaylah replied with a firm nod. "None will suspect."

As they moved super normally over to the boats. Nothing suspicious here. Noooope.

"Everyone should know it!"

Blame the Jedi for depriving him.

Peridot was even whistling! Super casually!

They were innocent and nobody could prove otherwise.

He blamed the Jedi for a lot, really.

"Okay, so teach me?"

At least he was game to learn.

"Okay, okay." He could do this. "So this-" He made a fist. "--is a rock and it beats scissors, but is beaten by a paper."

Which was a thing that made sense.

"Right," Kanan said, a little dubious. "Okay, I have it."

He did not have it. But he knew there was a rock involved, so he was also going to fake it.

"And these little guys are the scissors!" He even added a little snipping motion. You know. Helpfully.

That actually was pretty helpful! It gave Kanan more than just rock to work with. He mimed out the snipping motion, nodding again.

"And rock beats this?"

"How dare Anakin lie to everyone like that. Steve is exactly that good looking," Zoe said, smirking. "Are you feeling competitive today, or should we just see how we do without trying too hard?"

Fortunately, Hannibal had brought a small pair of...okay, they were what he tended to use for opera glasses if he couldn't get close seats, but they were binoculars!

He came over, sipping coffee from his thermos, and handed the binoculars to Jono. "Do you have a favorite?"

"Good morning, Iris." Hannibal smiled at her. "Would you care for some coffee?" He'd actually left the sandwiches at home, but everybody liked excellent coffee, didn't they?

Tip nodded. "Okay. Cool." She looked at the boat. "Soooo, you know how to use one of these things?"

Sorry, Theron, your teammate was going to be kind of terrible at this.

"Well, it's a boat."

They didn't even use wheels anymore where Theron came from.

"... Yeah, I'm siding firmly with you on this one," Liam decided, giving Steve a considering look. Fairly serious relationship or not, he had eyes, and Steve Rogers was damned easy on them.

"I have been told my place is depressingly under-furnished," he continued, "But I don't actually think a singing fish would be an improvement." Which was to say he was fine with not trying too hard.

"Uh huh. And then this here is paper! Which beats a rock," Magnus said, showing him the sign. "Because knowledge is power."

And, when the war comes, it's the only currency that matters.

Kanan flattened out his scissor hand, looking at it thoughtfully.

"Knowledge is power, unless somebody has a pair of scissors," he mused. "Got it."

"Now we go on three." And them do best two out of there if Magnus lost.

Kanan even promised not to cheat using the Force!

"Okay," he said, glancing toward the boats that were making their way steadily across the water toward the other island. "On three."

"One.. "

They were so far behind now, it was sad.

Jono looked out at the racers and just sort of shook his head, bemused.

//Don't actually know most of them,// he admitted. //I think that might be a sign that I need to get out more.//

He recognized Tip! And Bobby and Deadpool and Tony, of course. He and Cara had talked a couple of times? And Zoe was Zoe...

"Two three," Kanan said, despairing only slightly as he laid down some of that sweet, sweet rock action.

He'd kind of given up on winning, but he'd like to at least finish the race. He'd promised Hera some meatballs.

Hey, they could still get meatballs, regardless!

Magnus also threw a rock because this was Magnus, after all. "Wow, you're in a hurry, huh?"

"Well, I mean..." Kanan glanced at the other boaters. "That's a tie? I guess that means we try again."

It didn't matter how long they spent here, really. At least they wouldn't do as badly as Reno and Jenkins, there.

That was true. They were way better than those chucklefucks.

"Yeah, we keep going until someone wins. And then maybe best two out of three."

Magnus no.

This was going to be a morning of rock, paper, scissors with a follow-up of consolation meatballs, wasn't it?

"Works for me," Kanan replied, and then held his hand out again.
