BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday Morning

Saturday morning, an elderly teal and white RV pulled into the dropoff lane outside the airport and disgorged a lanky teenaged boy and his bags onto the pavement, the driver asking him as he went if he had his laptop, migraine medication, and assorted other essentials. "Now get going and make some friends," she told him. "I've got a consult to get to in Virginia."

"I love you, Grandma," he said, and closed the door of the RV. As Xylda peeled out on her way to, he assumed, her next mark, Manfred headed into the airport, stopping off at Starbucks for a caffeine infusion before following airport employees' instructions until he found the right room. He was apparently the first one here, but he knew it was the right place because of the incredibly glittery banner.

High school, here he came.

"Thanks," Sabine said, regarding her for a moment. "Can I see it when it's ready?"

She would never dream of telling another artist not to draw something that inspired them. She just had an academic interest in others' work.

"You don't mind?" Astrid asked, feeling a little surprise mixed in with her relief. She'd never really gotten caught drawing someone before. Or, if she had, no one paid her enough attention to bring it up.

"I draw people all the time," Sabine shrugged. "Do what you need to."

And that certainly ticked up Astrid's interest a bit.

"Are you an artist, too?"

"I do some things," she said, gesturing at her armor.

"You did your armor?" Astrid's brows went up, both interested and impressed. "As in you built it, sculpted it, or...?"

She had no idea how armor worked.

"I reformed it to fit me," Sabine explained, "but the paint job is all me."

Mandalorian armor tended to be less colorful.

"That's cool," Astrid said, after a moment to inspect the armor a little closer, trying to see where the paintstrokes or however she would have gone about it came into play. "I haven't done a lot of painting myself, but it's something I've always wanted to try."

The paint was mostly finely-controlled airbrushing, and Sabine didn't really mind her looking. It'd been a while since anyone actually took note of the work.

"Then you should," she said. "Only one way to find out if you actually like it, right?"

Astrid snorted a little. Actual encouragement to do something new? Not completely sarcastic and followed with a statement on how she should just stick to what she knew she was good at? What was that?

It was nice, that's what it was.

"I guess so," she smiled faintly. "I'm Astrid, by the way."

"Sabine," she said after the briefest of moments, because she was a little wary of giving that out when she was in the situation she was.

But whatever, Astrid might be the only person to get her guard down at all today.
