Today the Danger Shop was set up to look like a water-treatment facility. "Right," Anakin said, handing out extremely stupid-looking hard hats. "Another part of diplomacy is checking up on projects that your government is funding. For the most part these visits are extremely boring, often loud, and sometimes very smelly. They will usually include speeches, far too many photos, and sometimes cultural dancing, singing and food. Today will will tour this facility, nod and smile at the tour guide as he gives us information about the building that you will absolutely not be able to hear, and then negotiate your way through a table full of food that you don't recognize."

Anakin smiled. "It'll be fun!"

Well, it would have been more fun if Anakin hadn't cranked the heat so that the ambient temperature in this fake facility wasn't close to 95/35 degrees and humid as all hell.

Like Anakin has made you wear a stupid hat.

The man giving it is super enthusiastic, and completely incomprehensible. Smile and nod. Smile and nod.

There's...fried looking stuff, and rice, and something that is vaguely tomato-y? Maybe some roasted meat? Definitely fish with the head still on. Eat up, or pretend to! Drink the water because it is hot and you're probably sweating a ton, if your species is the type to sweat a ton.

Oh boy! Small children from the local school have come to sing and dance at you! They are...not good, but very excited to be there, and they are insisting you dance along.

Who is not dancing with the local school children, and you can't make him.

This is no way inspired by the very many stupid hats our ambassador has had to wear on trips out into Ghana.

Cough.

Norman Babcock

Norman was doing a lot of smiling and nodding, interspersed with just trying to get his hat to sit comfortably on his head. The trouble with having stubborn, stick-uppy hair, was that hats didn't generally sit well on it.

He kept having to reach up and kind of re-settle the hard-hat back on his noggin. And it didn't even distract him from the heat, so much as it just added to how aggravated he was feeling about it.

At least with the food, it was easy enough to pick what to sample based on whether or not it was staring at him. He actually kind of appreciated that Danger Shop food wasn't prone to having disgruntled ghosts tag along with it. He couldn't imagine those fish would be giving him a great time right now.

Oh, and water. He was drinking so much water.

Ahsoka Tano

Okay, the small children were actually kind of cute. Norman could appreciate their enthusiasm, anyway, even if they had more than he knew how to deal with. He tried to bow out of dancing along with a polite, "But I'm still working on this... really great... fish?"

But then one of the children insisted that fish was yucky anyway and he couldn't argue with logic like that.

The hard hats looked especially stupid on Togruta. Ahsoka was torn on whether Anakin had done that on purpose or not.

Ahsoka had eaten stranger. On the island even.

Ahsoka was good with younglings like these younglings very much weren't with the singing or dancing.

Anakin should probably start worrying about now.

Challenge accepted, Anakin.

Ahsoka gradually started directing more and more younglings in Anakin's direction.

Bobby Drake

Bobby was smiling and nodding! A lot!

Also totally owning wearing a stupid hat. And anyone standing within a few feet of Bobby might notice the air around him was distinctly less hot. Weird.

... Yeah Bobby was going right for that water. Maybe some of the rice. But also mostly the water. The humidity actually kind of helped, or at least made it so things weren't as bad as they could be, but Bobby was a guy who regularly turned to ice. Water was important.

Uma, daughter of Ursula

Food was food and Uma had eaten a hell of a lot worse. She was filling up her plate with anything that caught her eye and would probably go back for seconds. And thirds.

Oh children. Children. If Uma could get pirates to dance to choreography in unison, she could get you to do it, too.

"No, no, you on the left. You're lagging behind again. We're taking it from the top, and five, six, seven, eight!"

Yeah she was dancing with them. What, like learning their choreography was hard?

By the time they were done, the kids still weren't good, but they were a lot better than they had been. Progress!

...And, shut up, she was making them all drink water and eat properly after that kind of exercise.

Anakin arched up an eyebrow. "I see what you're doing, Ahsoka. And no."

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Master," Ahsoka said innocently, even as she sent another one over.

"Sure you don't," Anakin replied, giving the younglings a Look.

Kaylin Neya

Eh, whatever. There was food at the end so it was all good.

Food was food and Kaylin was happy to eat any of it.

Normally, Kaylin would absolutely refuse, but children. So, she did.
