"Did you?" Anakin asked, his cheeks going a little pink. "About coffee? Or books or something?"

"Nope," Angel said. Doodle, doodle, doodle. "'bout her and me. Did you know she thinks of me like a big brother?"

"I didn't," Anakin said, finding it a bit hard to breathe all of the sudden. "Bit of a change from a few months ago, huh?"

Angel chuckled. "Yep. Tell me about it. Rory of all people, sitting by my deathbed and telling me she cared about me like a brother. That makes an impression on a guy."

Anakin lips curved into a soft smile. "She's pretty amazing," he said.

He coughed. "Not that you don't deserve it or something, I mean. Um." He blushed. "I'm going to stop talking now."

"She really is." Angel smiled. He reached over to put a friendly hand on Anakin's shoulder. "Which is why, as the guy she wants for a big brother, if she was ever unhappy... well heck I don't know want I'd do. But you're on the same page with me, right? Because you're such good friends."

Jedi don't say "eep." And even if they did, Anakin would certainly never say "eep."

So what came out of his mouth might've sounded "eep"-like, but it wasn't.

"I'm right there with you," he said, trying to sound normal. "I'd hate for anything or anyone to make her unhappy. Yes."

"Cool," Angel grinned at him and let go.

He went back to his doodling as though nothing had happened. "So how the hell did you avoid Logan when you needed to?"

Anakin frowned. "I'm very, very sneaky. Enhanced senses are useful," he said. "Helped me avoid common rooms or hallways where he might be walking." He shrugged. "Classes you can't really do anything about, unfortunately."

He raised an eyebrow. "What'd he do now? Is this part of the whole he-messed-with-magic-and-now-Rory's-arms-come-off thing?"

Angel looked sheepish. "More a makes me feel all vampy inside kind of a thing. Except not so much the inside part."

"A potential 'welcome back, Angelus' kind of thing?" he said, lowering his voice and glancing around the room.

Angel met eyes with him for a second and gave a brief nod.

"Maybe. I dunno. Little freaked here."

"Understandable," Anakin said. "Avoiding the problem is good, then. I'm a big fan of avoiding." He glanced at Rory, then back at Angel, face serious. "So far, just the one person being the trigger?"

He paused. "Oh, and, um, not sure you'd be interested, but I have some meditation techniques for, you know, keeping the darkness away."

Angel looked up. "Actually I'd be very interested. Don't suppose you're free tonight?"

"I need to make an appearance at Jaye's party, but other than that, I've got nothing going on."

He smiled. "I actually needed to meditate anyway. Helps with the healing process. I was going to spend a few hours after this class was over up in my room if you want to stop by."

"Love to," Angel said. "Though - uh - invite. I get if you don't want to give me one."
