Friendship and Stabbing: an Adventurer's Guide, Thursday 2nd Period
It took a little while to make in the danger shop, but there was very large gashapon machine at the head of the class and one super excited teacher. At least one. Magnus couldn't speak for Cara, that would be rude.
"Equipment day, equipment day!" he said, totally trying to make that a thing. Would it catch on? Eh.
If Cara was ever visibly excited, the class should probably be worried. She did looked vaguely pleased though. Which meant they should probably worry a little anyway. "While ideally you should be able to fight naked with whatever come to hand, there's no denying that good equipment makes it a lot easier. Of course, that requires getting good equipment."
"Which you can buy, loot, or steal," Magnus said. "Ooooor you can try the wheel of fate, Istus herself! Well. Kinda. I'm an emissary of her and I helped with this, so it might have some divine stuff on it."
And that was good, right? Right.
"Right," Cara said slowly. "Though the downside of trying your luck is you might get worse gear than the person next to you with no way to remedy that." Well, no way that she could get away with suggesting.
Because they were adults who were setting a good example for the class. And not people who gleefully looted shit.
"So, step right up and let's see what you get! If you don't like it, you can always try selling it at the Fantasy Costco," Magnus suggested. Because they were safe from creepy warlocks asking for blood there. Also because they couldn't flat out suggest other methods.
Because it would be wrong to steal your classmates' sweet, sweet loot.

Conveniently each capsule also contains a scroll with the name and a helpful description* of your loot.
Aloy: A Toy Dinosaur - A painted wooden toy of a giant reptile. (The dinosaur talks to you in your dreams and tells you to betray your friends suddenly. After all, it is inevitable. If the use does anything to betray their friends, they get hit with a spike through the chest dealing 2d6 piercing damage.)
Mara: Kazoo of intimidation - A kazoo that when played gives the player +2 intimidation.
Khadgar: Star Shield - A circular shield with a star on it. Can be thrown (20/60), using strength as your ability modifier. On DC10 check, will bounce back to your hand, does 1d6 bludgeoning.
Yang: The disco phial - A phial when opened lets loose music that causes anyone within earshot to start dancing. Any creature dancing has the effect of difficult terrian, an d has disadvantage on any acrobatics, intimidation or persuasian checks.
Peebee: Clue by four - A board that does 1d4 bludgeoning damage. (When you hit someone with the board, you gain knowledge relevant to your situation. Can be location of a useful object, location of a flanking enemy, automatic success on an insight roll, helpful plot info, etc, up to DM.)
Summer: Helm of courage - A beautiful +1 AC helmet. (A helmet that encourages the player heartily. Good shot! Nice Hit! I'm sure you'll get him next time!)
Ahsoka: Robe of the high ground - A simple hooded robe, like one a monk would wear. (Gives wearer advantage on any attacks made on someone below them and a tendency to speak in absolutes.)
Uma: A very silly hat - A hat that when worn gives +2 performance
* Writing in brackets not actually part of helpful description have find finding that part out on your own!

And this was why Fandom was better than home, because back home it would have been something that would have instantly tried to kill her in that plastic capsule.
"Ooooooooh," she said, admiring the helm and turning it over in her hands before reading the description which was....vague. "Shiny!"
And that was when her eyes darted to the teachers. "It's not, like, going to try to start sucking out my brains or only be able to be removed with a special spell or link me in to some freaked out hive mind when I put it on, right? You guys can't do that in a class, can you?"
So she wasn't about to put random shit on her head without a little questioning first. She learned stuff in her adventures, okay?

But others might be.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
And she laughed, mostly out of relief, but encouragement was always nice. "Man," she said, "now I'm going to have to find some sweet matching armor, too!"
"You will look so fabulous!"
"Ohmygod, I know, right? Thanks, helm! We are going to accessorize the shit out of this ensemble!"
And now she was pumped, because adventuring was cool, but adventuring and fashion? Hell yeah.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
Magnus, no.
Re: Sign in! - F&S [02]
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
"So if I open it, do I have to dance too since it says 'anyone' within earshot, or does that mean everyone except me, the MASTER OF MUSIC!"
Was she planning on making her classmates dance? Maybe.

Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
"What's a plus two to performance?" she asked.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
Also, where was Griffin to make that decision for them? God.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
Magnus, no.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
Of course, she'd been besting by a Capri sun pouch last week, so her confusion might not carry the weight it really should.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
Air Conditioning? Actual Coverage? Awesone Clothes? Whatever it was, she hoped it was good, since she apparently now had +1 of it.

When he was unobserved in his dice rolls.

"Yeah, definitely need to find a set. Nine out of ten, most people aren't going to go all stabby toward the head first. But for that plus-one person, I'm all good, I guess."
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
Uma's proficiencies would in intimidation, performance, and, eventually, arcana.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
What if you rolled super shitty? Take the boost.
Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
As opposed to her own, very clearly awesome hat.

Re: Roll for loot! - F&S [02]
"I'm still trying to figure out how this works," Uma said. "Magic?" Her hand crept up to the seashell necklace resting on her collarbone.

"Bludgeoning damage, obviously, but what the hell does 1d4 mean?"
Scanning it with her omni-tool didn't yield any more helpful information, though it did save her from a couple of splinters.
