Class 2: Myth
Jareth strolls in from the back of the class where there is no door, and no one saw him arrive. Today, he is dressed in white pants that are probably more accurately called tights, a poet shirt, and enough white glitter to sink a small boat. He is holding a riding crop.
"Ah, good, I see most everyone is here. I didn't have to sent any one for a dip in the Bog yet. Most of you seem to have a solid grasp on manipulation and for those that don't well...this class will give you plenty of opportunity to learn to recognize it."
Today's Lecture

"Today we are going to discuss Myth and how it applies to you. Some of you, like me, may actually be myths. Or perhaps part of one. Or maybe you inadvertantly started one. Or maybe there's a prophecy about you having to do with a myth. A mythological figure might even be your parent. I am sure, like manipulation, a myth has touched your lives at some point.
"Mythology is an important element in manipulation. And that brings us to today's assignment:
"You will create a myth and get at least one other person to believe in it. This obviously excludes other members of this class, since if they have been paying attention--" he cracks his whip on the desk to wake up a few sleeping students "--they will know you are trying to manipulate them.
"I don't care what it is, I don't care how you do it." He raises an eyebrow and smiles toothily. "Although if you use your myth to manipulate someone, I will be ecstatic to give extra credit. Since this is a somewhat extraordinary homework assignment, there is nothing to turn in. Just know that I will be watching you."

"Right. Does any one have any intelligent questions?"
[OOC: Yes, I really want to see your characters out there convincing your roommates/teachers/significant others. C'mon, Jareth's favorite pastime is people-watching.]

"Hey, teach," he said, "how big a myth do we need? Does it have to be as huge as unicorns or can it be small like 'not tonight, I've got a headache'?"

"That's what the fangs are for, then. Getting rid of those lower standards."

Rumour has it you know the Psych teach. Does she always come onto her students like this (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/60072.html?thread=2309800#t2309800)?

Yup. Sounds like Dru to me.

Brilliant...
Anything else I should know about her?

He considered it, wrote his reply, and sent it back.
She loves it when you bite behind her ear. Also, if you take pictures, I want a 10% cut of the profits.

Use the nickel, and buy yourself a clue. The closest you'll ever get to that is in your dreams, mini-Machiavelli

Instead of writing his reply, he looked over his shoulder at her and blew her a kiss.
[ooc: He just can't stay out of trouble for one second. Such a bad boy.]

Book internall fights with himself..Reveal my true self and my disguise to Professor Jareth and risk the wrath of The Alliance, or fail this course? Or, perhaps something else...
Good assignment, sir. I look forward to attempting this shortly.

It reads:
To those it may concern, DEATH was unable to attend class on Weds as a result of an unscheduled plauge. I, the Death of Rats, was unprepared for such an event since, generally, all plauges must be cleared with DEATH beforehand. However, several lesser demons have decided to make light of the fact that DEATH is on sabbatical and have failed to follow procedure. They have been sent to work with the Hogfather for the next week as pennance.
Sincerely,
Death of Rats
