Taking Time For You, Wednesday, Second Period

"Hey, guys," Vanessa said, "welcome to Taking Time For You. I'm Vanessa, and I'll be your teacher. Now, there are a lot of reasons you could be stressed. You could be stressed because high school is hard and your parents are awful. You could be stressed because you have an undiagnosed anxiety disorder. You could be stressed because you're planning a wedding--hopefully that's just me. You could be stressed because your country is being run by a useless orange baboon and Houston is currently in the process of becoming New Atlantis. We're not here to judge why you need to step back and take a moment, we're here to learn how to do it. And, you know, to put that into action.

"So, why don't we go around the room, and everyone can introduce themselves, and share what's going on to make them feel they need to step back and take some time for themselves, plus one thing you do to relax, calm down, or take care of yourself. Then the rest of the period is free to do something relaxing."

At least one of you has probably never heard of Donald Trump, and Vanessa is super jealous of that person.

Hey, Sidon was one of those people! He thought this was a really interesting class already, a good contrast to the note-heavy, information-loaded Zoology class he had earlier. Even if he was feeling far more excited than he'd ever felt stressed out.

Yang had definitely never heard of Donald Trump, and she was very much wondering what the heck her dad and Qrow had gotten her in to, that these people had a monkey running their country? Like, was that an actual monkey, or some nasty joke against a Faunus?

"Like I said, I'm Vanessa, and I'm currently planning a wedding and spending way too much time reading about politics on Twitter. When I need to destress, I like to paint my nails and--uh. Spend time with my boyfriend." She'd almost said the NSFW version of that, whoops. "Who's next? How about you?" Vanessa said, pointing to someone at random.

Yes! More introductions! He was loving each and every one of them.

"I am Sidon!" he said, striking his hopefully now famous introduction pose of a pump of his fist and a winning, shining smile. "The Zora Prince! Though it is still hopefully a long time in my future, I will one day be the Zora King, which puts quite a bit of pressure on my shoulders, and that can be quite stressful as a result, especially as many of the Elders of Zora's Domain do not approve of my methods and style. Add this to the fact that our land has been plagued by a great Calamity for the past fifty years, one in which all our efforts to quell have failed completely, and I imagine some release and relaxation can be quite beneficial to my well-being and state of mind.

"To relax," he added, "I typically like to go for a nice, leisurely swim or perhaps listen to some tales of the exploits of my fellow Zora or, even better, those of the travelers who pass through on their journeys."

"Eric," he introduced himself. "Mostly right now I suppose I'm stressed about college admissions. And movin' to a whole new school again when I actually do go to college next year. To relax, I like to bake." The sheer amount of butter currently occupying the second floor common room's fridge was testament to that statement.

"Hey, I'm Yang. And, uh, not much tends to stress me out 'cause I'm kinda an adrenaline junkie," she admitted. And it was only mostly a lie, since the one thing that always super-stressed her out was not something she was going to talk about in class. "But to decompress I like to go shopping, or get my hair done, or punch stuff."

You know, like most girls.

"I'm Paris Geller and I don't need to calm down," Paris began. "I work better when I'm under pressure--like a diamond, or a nuclear reactor. I'm new to this reality with the giant moron with increasingly uglier hats who seems to think he's in charge despite being a giant moron what is WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE, and I'm already planning for college and I'm wondering what the hell Harvard is going to think about me when I only take seven classes a week like I've moved to some hippie commune and do naked yoga and take Susan Serandon seriously, but I'm fine. Great, even."

Nap, do your nails, whatever works for you.
