Vehicle Proficiency (and Woodworking), Thursday
Magnus had figured out more if the danger shop! That meant there were go-karts there for the kids to try out. It was a work in progress.
"Okay, so these are some very tiny battle-wagons, but they'll do for now," he said, eyeing the karts for a moment. "Do you remember your teams? I should have taken notes..."
It was like forgetting half his inventory all over again.
"If not, we can form new teams and race like that!" Yeah! "Okay, grab a kart and come up with a team name. It'll be fun!"
Unless you hated fun. In which case... why?

Peridot thought that one over.
"Might be easier to play while you're in one of these things," she pointed out. "But drums might work, too. Or, uh, streamers."
She shrugged her shoulders.
"If morale will make this vehicle go faster, then by all means, add streamers."
She really wanted to investigate the veracity of all of this in a more reliable scientific study, but for the time being she'd just take Pinkie's word for it.

Pinkie bounced with a noise like a dog's squeaky toy. "Streamers it is! And we can always play the music on my phone!"

Peridot was still kind of warming up to that one. But she couldn't see any harm in it, either.

"Of course it will! I'm basically a fun professional." No really. She would even tailor the fun to Peridot's own preferences, if she ever worked out what those were. "Let me find something nice and fast! Fast music always makes people want to go faster too!"

... That path only led to week-long Camp Pining Hearts marathons, Pinkie.
"If you insist," Peridot replied, crouching down to check the structural integrity of the wheels.
Heh. Wheels. Pearl had used those once. They weren't half bad, once you knew what to do with them...
"What this really needs is some kind of decent acceleration system," she decided. "... At the very least, something that goes faster than I do at a run."
Maybe she could use her metal powers to give it a little push? That might be a bit much for her yet, though.

Hey, if week-long Camp Pining Hearts marathons got Peridot going, Pinkie was all for it. Do not underestimate Pinkie's enthusiasm for whatever makes you smile.
"Ooo, yeah! Like rocket fuel!" Do not let Pinkie get a hold of rocket fuel. Good god. "Ooooorrrrrr maybe I could get one of my party cannons and put it on the back?"

Peridot squinted at the cart just a little bit more.
"Including streamers?"
This was important.

This Pinkie's version didn't shoot tablecloths, cakes, or party hats, though. Her cartoon physics mojo was slightly less powerful than pony!Pinkie's.

That was fine. A conical hat was kind of redundant on Peridot's already triangular hair anyway. And she couldn't eat the cake.
"... Then I say we do it. We might get an extra burst of speed and... raise morale? In the process."
How could this possibly backfire?

And Peridot stared at that hand for a moment before raising her own.
She'd been taught how to do this one, but she was kind of iffy about doing them all the same. Pinkie was gonna have to go in for the clap.

Pinkie didn't mind in the least. She waited briefly, smile not losing even an iota of force, then leaned in and gently clapped her hand to Peridot's.
". . . I don't have it with me today, though. I'll have to bring it next week."

Pinkie flung both hands into the air. "WHOOPEEE! I'll find an appropriate song!" She poked around at her phone for a minute, then finally put something on. "There! That's nice and upbeat!"
