Dream appears lost in thought as he leads the classes today.

Classics: "I am certain you have now studied Latin enough to hold a basic discussion. Mr. Anders, Ms. Frasier, please do so. Mr. Connor, as TA you have the honor of speaking to me. You may discuss whatever you wish, within the limits of your vocabulary."

Foreign Lit: "We have studied haiku and a short story by Haruki Murakami. Obviously, this barely scratches the surface of the world of Japanese literature. In class today, please select a Japanese author and ~~handwave~~ share some information about them with the class."

"You all have a quiz on Thursday."

John signs in, barely awake. Seems like he just can't keep his head up today.

Chatty chat chat. In Latin.

Janet scribbled some notes about Latin down while she was waiting for Anders to sign in.

Anders slid into the seat next to Janet and immediately opened his notebook to his Latin notes. Well, he figured, might as well get right to it.

"/I might be a little bit slower than you at this,/" he said haltingly. "/I'm sorry./"

/"I study a lot,"/ said Janet, slowly, but fluidly. /"I'm a geek. So don't worry."/

/"I try,"/ he replied, /"to study, that is. I don't have the . . . patience to study as long as you do though."/

/"We could study together some time,"/ said Janet, keeping her voice slow and trying to enunciate clearly. /"Maybe it's easier with two people?"/

It wasn't lost on Anders that Janet was making an effort to speak slowly enough for him to understand. He definitely appreciated it, but it did make him feel a bit embarrassed. /"I think that might be a good idea,"/ he replied, sliding down in his seat a little. /"Latin is harder for me than Greek."/

/"I ask Dr. Jackson for help,"/ said Janet. /"If I have trouble. He taught at my last school."/ She grinned. /"I think you're doing good. Besides, you could outplay me in--"// She switched to English for a minute. "Pyramid, right?"

Anders flashed a bright smile at that, and nodded. /"That's it,"/ he answered in Latin. /"This class is a different kind of challenge than I'm used to. I think I like it. I'll see Dr. Jackson tonight at the . . ."/ It was his turn to switch to English. "Coffee Appreciators' Society meeting."

He nodded again. /"Maybe I can talk to him about it then. And thanks."/

/"And studying together will help."/ Janet nodded. /"I do better learning if I speak the language."/

Her eyes widened. "Coffee Appreciators' Society? Dr. Jackson?" This could be trouble. Or fun. Or both.

/"You're welcome. Let me know what he says?"/

"I think he's the faculty sponsor," said Anders, before switching back to Latin. /"I will. And it definitely helps to have someone to speak it with."/

/"It's the perfect club for him."/ Janet snickered. /"I'm glad you can't overdose on caffeine easily."/

/"No, but it hurts when it wears off sometimes,"/ Anders retorted, amused.

"Caffeine withdrawal," said Janet in English, nodding. /"The sign of an addict."/ She giggled. And didn't even think of trying to hide the travel mug of coffee she'd refilled between ACJ and Classics.

John's more awake at this point (being called upon to talk to the prof is the equivalent of 12 cups of coffee), and approaches Dream.

/Morning, Professor./

//Good morning, John,// Dream said. //How are you this morning?//

//I am tired, Sir. How goes your day? And your other classes?//
