The Tick was at the front of the room as always. Lockheed was givig hopeful glances to Cameron from his normal book shelf.

"Hello, students! Today you will be starting on your big project for the semester. It's actually pretty simple. I'll split you into groups of two. Each group will figure out a theory - any theory - about how Justice works. Take Parker's Darwinist view of Justice, for example (well, don't take it, it's hers). Once you have a theory worked out, you'll be using any of these ~~cartoons~~ documentaries on my desk to showcase the theory."

"Pending Professor Mac's approval ~~which I totally forgot to get beforehand, oops~~, I'd like to use the Danger Shop to showcase these theories at life size and see if they hold true. Your theories and how they apply to the documentaries are due two weeks from today."

"This project is all about teaming up with someone and compromising on your views of Justice, so get into your groups and get to talking!"

"This weeks metaphor is lightbulbs. And this week's extra credit is to devise a battlecry for your project partner!"

"Well, I guess what I'm trying to say is that even when you try to be fair, it doesn't always work," Veronica said. "Which I realize contradicts what I said earlier, sort of, but it's confusing."

"What's your theory of justice then?" Angel asked.

"I'm not sure," Veronica admitted. "I think Justice should always strive to be fair and seek the truth. Is that a theory?"

"I think that's more of an aspiration," Angel said.

"Well what's your theory?"

"Justice is controlled by unseen Powers who make it all pan out however they want and we'll probably never understand it," Angel said. "Oh! Which works well with that cartoon with Bugs drawing Daffy."

"Oh, good point," Veronica said. "So you really don't think we can have any effect on our lives? You think it's all pre-destined?"

"I think destiny's a huge part of it," Angel said. "Maybe not for every little thing like what you wore today - which is nice, by the way - but the big stuff's all mapped out and we're just biding time until it happens."

"I'm not sure I necessarily agree with that," Veronica said. "But I think we can work with it for this project."

"We can adjust it if you want," Angel said. "Prof. Tick said we should compromise on a theory."

"Well, I just like to think that some of the things I've done have made an impact, you know?" she said, thinking of Lilly mostly. "But maybe that only happened because I was destined to make those things happen?"

"See where I'm from the answer to that would be yes," Angel admitted.

"Well, I think we found something we can work with then," Veronica said with a smile.

"Excellent," Angel said. "Go team."
