The Tick was at the front of the room as always. Lockheed was givig hopeful glances to Cameron from his normal book shelf.

"Hello, students! Today you will be starting on your big project for the semester. It's actually pretty simple. I'll split you into groups of two. Each group will figure out a theory - any theory - about how Justice works. Take Parker's Darwinist view of Justice, for example (well, don't take it, it's hers). Once you have a theory worked out, you'll be using any of these ~~cartoons~~ documentaries on my desk to showcase the theory."

"Pending Professor Mac's approval ~~which I totally forgot to get beforehand, oops~~, I'd like to use the Danger Shop to showcase these theories at life size and see if they hold true. Your theories and how they apply to the documentaries are due two weeks from today."

"This project is all about teaming up with someone and compromising on your views of Justice, so get into your groups and get to talking!"

"This weeks metaphor is lightbulbs. And this week's extra credit is to devise a battlecry for your project partner!"

"No, go with me on this. Justice is like a folder hemlet, not always constructed of the sturdiest materials, but enough to protect you from..." Jaye pauses. "Was there a reason for the folder hemlet or is that just some weird alien fashion thing?"

"Rory thought she was three!"

"You put paper on your head!"

"She thought she was three!" Aeryn repeats.

"And what did you think you were?"

That's... a good question, actually. "She was concerned about things, I tried to help. I shouldn't even be explaining this to you-"

"What things was she concerned about? It'll help with our theory."

Aeryn's quiet for a long time, but actually, the metaphor kind of makes sense, and she doesn't know what the documentary things are about. "Lava monsters."

Jaye somehow doesn't laugh out loud. She clears her throat and says, "Justice is like a folder hemlet, not always constructed of the sturdiest materials, but enough to protect you from the evil lava monsters of..."

[Have to go to work. Slowplay okay?]

Aeryn's glaring as she says, "How about we just say evildoers?"

[Same here, back at lunch!]

"It lacks a certain something."

[Back!]

"Are you on some sort of drugs?" Aeryn wonders.

"Why does everyone ask me that?"

"You're trying to create a metaphor about a frelling folder helmet!"

"You're the one that wore the... frelling helmet!" says Jaye, unaware that she jusst swore in some other language ad that she's having an actual argument over a folder helmet incident from WINTER BREAK.

"How does this relate to class at all?" says Aeryn, and looks around for Professor Tick to ask for a new partner.

"It... kind of doesn't," admits Jaye.

Aeryn buries her face in her hands.

[Going back to work. Finish tonight?]

"There, there," says Jaye, reaching over to pat Aeryn's shoulder.

[NP. Figure out a way to resolve this, plzkthnx.]

Which is not the kind of thing you want to do to Aeryn even on a good day, so she jerks back and glares more. But this one is a special glare.

"Okay, bad move on my part," Jaye says, pretending to brush lint of Aeryn's shoulder, which isn't likely as she's wearing a sleeveless shirt.

"Yes, it was," Aeryn snaps, "can we get back on topic now?"

Jaye thinks. "You know," she says, "we could always look at the documentaries of that Bugs Bunny character. He has this whole thing with this person named Daffy Duck..."

"I hate ducks," she says immediately.

"It's not like a real duck," Jaye says.
