So, this week, Sparkle had e-mailed his class, telling them to bring in their favourite foods, if they had any way of getting their hands on the stuff. If they didn't, they could let him know and he'd try his best to supply some, and if that didn't work... hey, that was what the danger shop was for.

"If any of you guys have any food restrictions, now would be the time to speak up," he shared, grinning wryly. "I'd rather someone have to work their way through a double helping of something than have to drag someone to the clinic because they've gone into anaphylactic shock or something. Today, we're sharing food."

He held up four chocolate bars, in yellow wrappers, as if he'd just come across the holy grail and he needed to show them to the room at large so that they could be properly beheld by all.

"These," he said, "are Coffee Crisp. They are Canada's gift to itself, because you have to order these puppies online if you want to get them anywhere outside of the country, and nobody believes me when I say that a chocolate-covered vanilla wafer bar layered with soft coffee candy is basically the best ever thing... ever. So you guys are going to put these things into your faces and back me up on this, because even if you don't like coffee, this stuff is divine."

Not literally divine. But it did completely lack the bitterness of coffee that tended to turn people off, so it had that going for it.

"And then we're going to share what kind of food you guys want the class to try. And eat it. Because food."

In which Sparkle blathers on about a chocolate bar, and then passes around enough for everybody. Because when you ask him 'How do you like your coffee?' his first instinct is still to answer, 'crisp.'

Pinkie loved this class. She inspected the crisp from every possible angle, took a delicate bite, and rolled it about on her tongue to get a good idea of all the flavors in the little crunchy thing.

Then she shoved the entire rest of it in her mouth in one go and chewed with joyful abandon.

Could she have another one? SHE WANTED TO EAT ALL THE THINGS.

"Oh, this is good," Mara said, closing her eyes and smiling.

Food! It's okay if you couldn't get your hands on your own-- Sparkle has the internet, and also connections at marketplaces in certain galaxies far, far away that he quite possibly could have handwavily pestered for whatever closest approximation was available a few thousand years before somebody's time. Just roll with it.

If you brought your own, hopefully you brought enough to share with the class!

"So this is maybe the very hardest choice I have ever had to make," Pinkie said gravely. "I love food. Love it. Cookies and marshmallows and pizza and donuts and all the foods! Buuuuut if I have to choose one I love the very best, it would have to be. . . ." Pause for dramatic effect. "CUPCAKES!" She whipped a tray of bright little cakes in multiple flavors, each with a perfect swirl of creamy soft icing on top and decorated with a gummy candy fruit wedge. "I make them myself. I used to always use sprinkles when I made them but thaaaaaaaaaaaaat's kind of iffy these days. You might end up wearing more cake than you get to eat. But that just means I have to get even more creative! Everyone come get one! I have yellow, and chocolate, and red velvet, and carrot, and coffee, and spice, and poppy-seed, and lemon, and cherry, and. . . ."

No seriously. She'd brought a lot of cupcakes.

"...that's a lot of cupcakes," Mara said. "What are you going to do with the extras?"

Pinkie shrugged. "Share and eat those two of course! Folks around here will eat just about anything if you leave it in a common room."

"There's probably a weakness to be exploited in that habit," Mara agreed with a smile. "Mud pies or something."

Pinkie giggled. "That could be a super fun prank!" Then her gleeful expression snapped off like a flipped switch. "But not with cupcakes. Cupcakes are serious business." And then it switched back on. "But otherwise, neato!"

"I wouldn't dream of messing with the cupcakes," Mara promised.

"I brought nerfburgers," Mara said. "Nerfs are...a lot like cows at home, but much tastier. I hope no one is a vegetarian."

He is absolutely hoarding Coffee Crisp bars at home, yes.

I confuse so many people at work now that we're mostly not Canadians when they ask me how I like my coffee.

I like my coffee CRISP.

DAMMIT NOW I WANT COFFEE CRISP.

I MEAN IF YOU LIKE I CAN SEND YOU A BUNCH. I LIVE IN THE LAND OF PLENTY, MY FRIEND.
