Show and Tell, Tuesday, Period Two
This week, Sparkle had told his class to meet him on the causeway. It was a small class, he felt fairly confident that he could take them on a field trip without losing too many of them. He was grinning all the while, too.
"Okay, so this week, we aren't going to be bringing what we're showing off to the classroom," he shared, "I mean, obviously. This week, we're going to go to what we're going to be showing off. We're heading to the zoo. If you have a favourite animal, this is going to be an easy one for you. If you don't have a favourite or the animal you like most isn't from Earth, then you can explore the zoo and see if anything catches your interest. I'm gonna give us all like half an hour to look around. You can wander off alone or in groups if you want to," he waved them through the portal and they stepped out into the zoo next to the ice cream stands. "Then we meet back here, and each take turns leading the rest of the class off to find our favourite animals and to talk about them a little bit."
He paused, and then added, "But first, we're getting ice cream. My treat."
It wasn't exactly like buying four ice cream cones was going to break the bank or take much time, anyway.

She loved this class!
Explore the Zoo
Sparkle might get you another ice cream if you're all there on time.
Re: Explore the Zoo
Show and Tell!
He waved a hand, gesturing for the group to follow, and then led them on a short trip through the zoo to, of all things, the raccoons.
"These guys are raccoons," he shared. "And they're, like, everywhere back home. They're smart, they have little people fingers, and they can get into basically any garbage can in the world. Bonus points for their big furry butts and their little bandit masks and the way people have started calling them trash pandas, because shut up, 'trash panda' is a super cute thing to call a raccoon, okay?"
He could've gone with something easier, like one of the big cats, but nah. He was totally feeling raccoons this morning.
"Okay, who's next?"
Re: Show and Tell!
One would be wrong.
She led the class instead to the Reptile House, then straight through the halls, past snakes and turtles and frogs (all of which she offered little greetings and waves) to a large exhibit with a swampy, marshy environment inside.
"This is the American alligator!" she said happily. "Alligators are super cool! They live all over the American southeast, because they love love love hot muggy weather and freshwater wetlands. You can tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile because alligators have the cutesy little snubby-wubby round noses and crocodile noses are fierce and proud and pointy!" 'Cute' and 'proud' were totally useful taxonomic terms. "Some people like to have baby alligators as pets but that's actually not a great idea, because baby alligators grow into grownup alligators, which as you can see are super duper big! In Manehattan they say that all the alligators who got flushed down toilets when they got too big still live in the sewers, but that's just silly. How would you fit a not-baby alligator down a toilet? They're huge!"
Re: Show and Tell!
She smiled. "And they're pretty."
Re: Show and Tell!
"Look, look!" Ringo pointed excitedly. "They're giant lizards!" They were actually kind of like Pinkie's alligators, except they didn't do the whole water thing. And they were so cute being giant and lazy-looking sunning out on the rocks.
Talk to Sparkle
Or how it looks like he might seriously be pondering how to break into some of the exhibits to make off with the critters inside. Even if it was less fun without Atton or Cade around to be idiots about it with him.
