Woodworking (and Vehicle Proficiency), Thursday - 1st Period

Class was in the Danger Shop because Magnus had thought it sounded pretty cool, but then had no idea how to program it, so class was in a big, empty room.

Well, mostly empty room. There were pieces of furniture in various stages of construction along with tools waiting for the kids. All three of 'am.

"Welcome to Woodworking... And other skills I can come up with," he said just a touch anxiously before barreling on ahead as was his wont. "My name is Magnus Burnsides and I'll be your teacher."

That sounded all official, right?

"So... first time teaching. Well, teaching teenagers. I taught a friend to carve a sweet puzzle box for her girlfriend once." Carey's blade skills did not translate over to woodcrafting. "Hopefully you guys have more talent there!"

Roll for an awkward laugh. What? Wrong medium for that? Damn.

Magnus cleared his throat. "So, let's get to introducing ourselves while sanding down some of these pieces."

And it wasn't even fantasy sandpaper!

"...you can," Magnus replied slowly. Because he was also proficient in hitting people with chairs. "But mostly things bumping into them. Not, like, fireballs or angelic Della Reeses."

Peridot didn't know what 'angelic' meant, never mind Della Reese. But she was used to that around here, so she just sort of nodded sagely.

"I am familiar with chairs," she noted, "we just don't tend to use organic materials like wood in order to make them, back on Homeworld. And Earth is weird."

So weird. Their ships weren't even shaped like body parts or anything.

...dick ships? They had dick ships? Because a case could be made that many ships were weiner shaped.

Probably not, if only because Gems were primarily considered a 'female' race. Even though they were all technically genderless and they reproduced by stuffing rocks into the ground.

Missed opportunities, Cartoon Network.

"Where I'm from," Peridot confirmed. "My home... world."

"How can a moon be fake?" Peridot squinted a little at that. "Does it orbit a planet?"

"Kind of, but it was a moon base that could move on its own."

"So... more like a spaceship that was shaped like a moon," Peridot mused. "Or a space station, I suppose."

Her definition of 'moon base' was generally just 'a base that is located on a moon.'

Peridot's exposure to dogs was a very limited thing.

Look, what Peridot really needed here was to be introduced to a doggo that didn't try to make off with her body parts at every possible opportunity!

"It's hardly an issue anymore," she muttered, frowning. "I no longer have those fingers."
