Woodworking (and Vehicle Proficiency), Thursday - 1st Period

Class was in the Danger Shop because Magnus had thought it sounded pretty cool, but then had no idea how to program it, so class was in a big, empty room.

Well, mostly empty room. There were pieces of furniture in various stages of construction along with tools waiting for the kids. All three of 'am.

"Welcome to Woodworking... And other skills I can come up with," he said just a touch anxiously before barreling on ahead as was his wont. "My name is Magnus Burnsides and I'll be your teacher."

That sounded all official, right?

"So... first time teaching. Well, teaching teenagers. I taught a friend to carve a sweet puzzle box for her girlfriend once." Carey's blade skills did not translate over to woodcrafting. "Hopefully you guys have more talent there!"

Roll for an awkward laugh. What? Wrong medium for that? Damn.

Magnus cleared his throat. "So, let's get to introducing ourselves while sanding down some of these pieces."

And it wasn't even fantasy sandpaper!

"My name is Khadgar," he said with a polite smile. "Am I allowed to ask what's going to become of these pieces?"

"Hi, Khadgar!" Magnus said cheerfully. "This one is... a chair. Because my landlord doesn't have much furniture and this is how I'm repaying him for letting me stay."

"That seems like a fair exchange. Are you new to town?" Khadgar asked, taking a little more care with his sandpapering.

"Unfortunately yes. I'd really like to get home, but I've tried that causeway thing a couple a times a day and noting has worked yet."

He'd even attempted to hit it with an ax and nothing happened!

Khadgar frowned and nodded. "I accidentally walked through a portal and ended up here. I haven't managed to find a way back yet either. But I was running away from some things so I haven't been trying quite as hard."

"What were you running away from?" Magnus asked, frowning a little.

"A responsibility I didn't want, that I don't think I should have," Khadgar admitted. "Running away was probably childish, and I certainly didn't intend to run this far away, but I think it's also an additional sign that I wasn't supposed to take the job."

"Go with your gut, I say. And do the right thing too," Magnus replied. "And don't jaywalk."
