As the last graduate sat down, there was a bit of silence as those who had experienced graduation ceremonies before waited to see what would happen.

When the silence had dragged on for a full minute, Zoe got up to speak--and was immediately interrupted by a voice at the end of the crowd. "Excuse me, am I late?"

Zoe peered out to see the source of the question, trying to look calm for the sake of people's guests. "I'm afraid so, we've just finished."

"Gee, that's too bad," the man said, making his way up to the stage. "Portalocity is the worst, I don't know how you folks get anywhere with that system. I had my speech prepared and everything. Graduation is such a special day, you know?"

As he got closer to the stage, Zoe moved to try to get in his way, but the moment he reached the stage, the safety protocols switched on, and a barrier surrounded the graduates and the gentleman, who looked around and laughed.

"Now that's just downright impressive!" he said, but the smile quickly faded from his face as he let out a groan. "Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to get to my speech after all." He gasped as his face began to bloat and morph, and the process moved down along his whole body until the man was gone, replaced by a giant green heavily scaled snake.

Sorry graduates, it looked like you weren't getting a quiet ending after all.

So, that just happened. Fret about your friends and family or... let's be honest, get your phones out and Snapchat that thing!

"... Well, that's fucking gross."

Dante couldn't get around that.

A snake, a snaaaaake, oooh it's a snaaaaake!

So, giant green slimy thing. Parts of it certainly look vulnerable to weapons, but he's also got those giant teeth to look out for. If you're not armed, there's a box of ~~moddable~~ weapons ~~and flamethrowers!~~ by the podium because look, not preparing for this sort of thing would just be silly at this point.

Not armed?

Please.

Cassandra was always armed.

"Typical," was her only response at the sight of the snake. She drew her sword.

Frank knew better than to use a flamethrower - he technically counted as a container filled with flammable content - but he was going to grab a sword to jab at anything or anyone who might try to ruin his celebratory drink.

Jalian sighed, gave the snake an unimpressed look, and pulled her knives.

Anders was lucky; there was a staff in the box of weapons, and, really, fighting a giant snake didn't seem that unlikely to him. He stayed out of striking range and sent fire and ice wherever they seemed like they'd do the most good, all the while keeping an eye out for injured fighters.

Of course Isabela had knives under this getup, the main question was whether to lose the robes or hope they'd keep any gore of her actual clothing.

There is no shame in noping out of dealing with a giant snake, honestly.

"NOPE," Kuzco said, eyes going wide at the snake. He looked around for a likely student to use as a human shield.

Xanthippe noped really really hard out of dealing with the snake, yes.

She may also have let out an ungodly shriek.

"Take her, she's pretty!" Kuzco yelled helpfully at the snake.

Battered, bruised, and bloodied, the defeated snake fell to the ground with a roar... and almost melted, oozing into the ground. But hey, less for the cleanup crew to deal with, right?

In honor of the 20th anniversary of Buffy, and the reason this whole thing became a Fandom tradition in the first place!

And yes, I may have picked one of the screencaps with "Class of 1999" on it to remind us how old we all are. You're welcome!
