Rufus eyed the books from the entrance to the library.
They didn't have eyes, but he was reasonably certain they were eyeing him back. They were lined up in two neat rows, like spectators waiting for a parade, and the parade was supposed to be starting right then and there.
Since he was, in fact, expected to work at the library, and their lines went straight to where he needed to be...
"Only this once," he informed them. "And, please, do this for anyone else who comes in too."
He imagined it would be more amusing to watch than it was to endure.
