Jono only looked mildly peevish today, thanks to a headache he'd woken up with that morning that didn't seem at all inclined to leave him be, no matter how much he tried to just reason with it. He clearly wasn't a fan.

He also had a pair of newsboy hats with him, one in each hand. This presumably had something to do with today's activity. Presumably.

//Fairly straightforward one today,// he shared. //Pair off, play out any bloody scene you choose, and the aim of the game is to take the other player's hat off his head. You need to find a way to justify it within the scene you're playing, like perhaps there's a wasp in the room and you want to grab for it to swat the thing. The other player will have to justify why they can't give up their hat for the cause, as well. Basically, any move to take or keep your hat will need to make sense in the scene you're playing. Now, grab a hat, pair off, and go.//

Hats was a nice, straightforward game. Today was a good day for straightforward. If anyone needed Jono, he'd be sitting down in the theatre seating, more or less paying attention. With his eyes closed.

//Well,// Jono ventured, blinking and leaning back slightly as she waggled that knife in his direction. //We are in the Danger Shop. If you want something in particular, it's probably programmed in, you just have to get the room to cough it up.//

"Eh?" Shiemi looked up in shock. "Really?!"

Jono gave his head a careful nod. Didn't want to jostle that headache too much, after all.

//Sure. It can't dredge up real ingredients out of nothing, but something that can crush ingredients should be easy. A mortar and pestle?//

Shiemi beamed at him. "Yes please! Stone, if that's possible?

"Nii," suggested Nii-chan, a tug on her blouse.

"Ah. Yes. And maybe a wooden bowl about this big?"

//That big? Sure, I think I can manage that...// He hauled himself up to his feet, making his way over to the danger shop controls to poke at them for a minute. Before long, he was making his way back with all of the above.

... And a couple of random chickens were running around the stage.

Sure.

//How're these?//

"Perfect!" Shiemi took the items and managed to grind up several pieces of the bark into a course powder. She added a small amount of water and a ew other things from her school bag, then used a bit more of the cinnamon branch to mix it together.

Nii-chan squiggled his way into her bag for a handkerchief and then began tidying up the remaining shavings into it. "Nii?" He asked, as he moved about.

"We can do that in the room. I'm sure Margaery won't mind," Shiemi nodded and then paused to lift the mixture to her nose. A whiff... "Done!" She looked up at her teacher. "Do you mind if I touch your forehead, or would you rather do it yourself?"

//Ah, either way,// Jono replied, shrugging. //Is there a certain way to do it, or do you just smear it on?//

He had plenty of experience with balms and salves the the like, since it was basically all he could use, but it didn't hurt to ask to be sure.

Look, her smile could grow! Someone who knew about medicine! "You're supposed to put it in a cheesecloth or handkerchief, but since it's fresh you can just apply it." She held out the mixture.

"Let it sit, though," she admonished gently. "You can massage your skin but don't rub in the paste. You want the heat to work, too." She barely held back from saying, 'like a compost heap'. You're welcome.

Jono... really didn't want to think about having cinnamon compost on his face. It was probably for the best that she'd held back, there.

//I can do that, then,// he replied, accepting the mixture with a little nod of thanks and, after a moment taken to look thoughtfully at the paste, shrugging and smearing it over his forehead. //That's actually rather straightforward. I appreciate that.//

"Cinnamon works really well as a topical for headaches." Shiemi was perfectly willing to go into the reasons why, including spiritual balance if Jono wanted! "It should lesson the pain in a few minutes. It may come back later, but it shouldn't be as severe."

She pouted. "I'll look up stronger topicals in my room. And... can you smell things?"

Jono shrugged, and then made a so-so gesture with one hand.

//Not as well as most might. It depends on how strong the smell is, really. And once it gets too strong, I have to tone it back anyway, or my fiance with the nose like a bloodhound'll have me sleeping in one of the space rooms.//

Because of course 'I can't actually inhale' Starsmore was engaged to 'I can literally smell your fear' Lecter.

"Then oils and herb sachets are not a good idea." Shiemi sagged a little. "I'll have to study really hard and find more things that will work."

//For the time being, though, I appreciate this,// Jono said, gesturing encouragingly to the glob on his face. //It's helping already, I can feel a difference. Thank you, Shiemi.//
