Lucille hadn't paid much attention to the American election, mostly because she had never considered that politics could make a difference for her. She had been pleased to learn that women could now vote, but she knew little beyond that. To be fair, she knew little about the politics of her own country in her own time. Her parents hadn't let her or her brother read the newspapers.
Reading up on the electoral system in the United States gave some understanding of how it worked, but the only conclusion she could draw from the result that she had no reason to reevaluate her opinion on humanity. She attributed the silence of the books to mourning.
