MSND Rehearsal, Thursday, 4-8 p.m. FHT

The house lights have been dimmed, so that the techies can do their thing.

Rory was curled up in the middle of the front row, her hair piled haphazardly on her head and held in place by a pen as she chewed on her lip and studied her very well-worn script.

There were assorted goodies and drinks on a table to the side, in case the actors were hungry during their last rehearsal.

Egeus complains to Theseus of his daughter’s disobedience by preferring Lysander over Demetrius. Theseus gives her four days, until his wedding, to choose obedience, death, or cloistering (going to a nunnery), despite the fact that Demetrius has betrayed Helena’s love and that Lysander is equally as worthy. Hermia and Lysander resolve to run away and unwisely share their plans with Helena.

Artisans gather to prepare a play for Duke’s wedding and plan a rehearsal in the same lover’s wood.

Supernatural forces of Titania and Oberon meet and explain that they are fighting over a young Indian boy to whom Titania feels obliged because of her relationship with his mother and whom Oberon wants to add to his “warriors.” Oberon entrusts Puck to find him a love potion and, after seeing Helena’s fruitless suit to Demetrius, decides to include them in his plan.

Bottom, Quince, and company begin rehearsal. Bottom wanders off and is transformed by Puck into an ass, causing his friends to run off in fright. Titania awakens and falls in love with him.

Oberon and Puck observe the youths quarrelling. Demetrius and Lysander are both in love with Helena and each offer Hermia to the other. Hermia is distraught at the loss of Lysander’s love. Helena thinks they’re all joking at her expense. Puck leads them on a merry chase through the woods until they all fall asleep.

Titania and fairies wait on Bottom as he continues to pontificate like the ass he appears to be until Oberon awakens Titania and leads her off (after having tricked her into giving up her Indian boy while she is enchanted). Theseus and company, hunting, come into the woods. The plots are revealed, and the world returns to its natural order with the exit of the fairies and the reentrance of the city’s ruler.

Mac has made her way up to the lighting booth, and is switching everything on and attempting to work out which channels are which.

While she just loves techie things, but she hasn't actually done this before, so if the lights start flashing at random intervals or your microphone suddenly projects you across the hall... uh, oops?
