"Good morning, everyone," Steve said, looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Whatever that meant. "Hope you enjoyed your vacation."

He ate a 50 ounce steak and then asked for dessert. The waitress probably still hadn't recovered.

One day he was going to end up in some sort of eating challenge and get kicked out for 'performance enhancing drugs'. And vitarays.

"Or at least enjoyed having some time off," Tony said, not at all bright eyed or bushy-tailed. That would take another cup of coffee, thanks. "Today we're going to go easy with a debate about the merits of daylight savings time. Which, if you're unfamiliar, is when we shift everything an hour forward or an hour backward depending on the season in order to get as much sunlight during usual work hours."

"Which is extremely important if you work outside," Steve said, nodding. "Like at the docks or farming or on the railroad or something."

It's not 1932 any more, Steve.

Tony nodded along in agreement with Actual Grandpa Steve Rogers. "In the past it was also used as a method of conserving energy. But it's not without it's detractors now that it causes health issues by upsetting sleep patterns."

Steve rolled his eyes a little at that. "People actually complain about that? In my day, it was two days you could pretend you overslept and missed church."

"Never change, Steve," Tony said, having to give him a deeply amused look for that. He took a breath and shook his head. "Research the subject a little and we'll begin."

Daylights Savings Time: Why?

Daylight Savings Time, Whyyyyyyy?

Negasonic wasn't really into the topic today.

"So I'm for Daylight savings whatever. There's an app I like that does a reset at 11:00 AM. But when they set the time back an hour I can start using at ten. Which I think is cool."

She might be trolling the teachers.

Steve blinked. "It's okay because of having a cool app?"

"It's about as worthwhile as any other argument."

Actually it wasn't and she knew that. But she was being a moody teen.

"You've been watching presidential debates, haven't you?" Steve said dryly. "Those aren't exactly good examples of arguing."

"I have not watched any debates. No one has ever seen me watch debates. This is clearly an accusation from someone involved in a rigged system to keep me from playing with my app an hour early. Anyone who doesn't support daylight savings should have a wall built around them. And they can pay for it."

Yes. She had watched the debates. For a minute before deciding to stop as she was pretty sure the school would look down on her blowing up the common room.

"Wait," Kaylin said. "You change the sun so you can have more light?"

Who had power like that?

"No, the sun stays the same. We just shift the clocks around to compensate for the Earth's rotation," Steve said.

"This world is crazy," Kaylin said. "Why don't you just stick to doing whatever the sun does. You have all this electricity stuff, so it's not even as if you need to waste money on magic lamps or anything."

They love to talk!

They do! And argue. But that was really more a hobby than anything.

Tony was there for any questions even as he occasionally tapped his phone for news updates from home.

Steve was there with a pumpkin spice latte because the barista had insisted.

He...didn't look impressed.

Trufax: Ghana doesn't do Daylight Savings. We have 12 hours of daylight all year long.
