Jenny looked around the room, then got started on her lecture.

"All right, guys, we're going to get started on prepping for your final papers. What you're going to end up doing, eventually, is researching a couple of myths and writing about them. So. I've got a website loaded up. Check out the first culture and myth you want to pick--and keep in mind that your second myth will either have to have similar or contrasting themes.

Quick warning: You may have a personal belief system that rebels at calling one of these pantheons 'mythology.' However, we're treating the subject in a scholarly manner, which means that we're going to pretend that these are cultural tales, no matter what your personal belief system. Got it? Great!

I want you guys to tell me why you picked that particular myth, and culture, after you've chosen one, okay?"

OOC: Guys, you can handwave it, but this actually does lead into the final essay project, which I really am expecting people to do. So you might want to at least pick something out. :)

"It's interesting and not very commonly used in pop media today? Unlike other myths and um, ideas, and er, what's that called? Theme! Right, um, that. Yeah."
