Tactics of War: An Invitation to Dine
Complying with Lady Harrington's instructions, Senior Master Steward James MacGuiness saw to it that invitations for Her Grace's inaugurual class were distributed. At some point during the day, students on the Tactics roster wound find an envelope, lined in green, containing the small slip of cardstock.
On the front, they find the following text:
Her Grace, Admiral Honor Harrington requests the honour of your presence at Cafe Fina, Monday, 20 March from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.*
*Appropriate attire is expected.
As always, however, this was not simply dinner, but a lesson in disguise. So, on the back, Lady Harrington had inscribed her own message before dispatching Mac with the otherwise blank invitations:
Consider the following equation: F x W = P, where F = Force, W = Will, and P = Power. Be prepared to discuss this equation and its affect on both strategic and tactical considerations.
I look foward to meeting each one of you

Mac was looking forward to seeing Her Grace and finding permanent lodgings. The pinnace was incredibly crowded.
