When lunchtime rolled around, Zoe got everything set up in the classroom, setting out pizzas, sodas, and different types of cookies (pumpkin season hadn't completely taken over yet, so there were plenty of normal options). After everyone arrived and got settled, she gave the students a genuine smile.

"Thank you all for coming to our first council meeting today. I'm glad to see some new faces among the familiar ones," she said. "For those of you who are new, the Student Council is in charge of most of the social events that happen at the school--Homecoming, Parents' Weekend--" The occasional glitter birthday party she pretended to not know about... "So it's good to see so many of you interested in helping out. Next week, I'd like to get together to talk about Parents' Weekend, but this week I just want you to have a chance to get to know one another if you don't already, and we have to pick a president from among the seniors." Considering her seniors, this was going to be a very interesting year.

"I will do my best to make these social events enjoyable," she said. "I am sure I can improve them."

Less glitter, more piano music, and what others might consider a gothic feel for a start.

Isabela was not going to let that stand unchallenged!

"I'll put Frank in charge of the drinks."

So, they were teaming up against her? That was to be expected, Lucille told herself. She replied, with a chilly smile:

"I won't put Frank in charge of the drinks. I will make sure they are of better quality."

Like Isabela had actually asked him yet, she was just planning on making his previous habits at dances official.

"Are you implying that Frank has inferior tastes?" Slander!

Lucille had been to dances.

"Yes," she replied.

Lucille also spiked drinks with poison instead of booze, so her judgement was suspect. Not that Isabela was aware of this.

"How dare you impugn the hard work your fellow members of StuCo have put in."

Isabela, your opening argument had been 'vote for hotness'.

"Isn't the point that we should improve on the work they have done?" Lucille countered.

She wasn't going to use poison after all, not unless it was necessary.

"By recognising the proven quality of past work and giving more resources, instead of dragging them down to make yourself look better."

This would a snapshot of why Isabela hadn't been allowed to attend dinner parties once her marriage had started collapsing, except she wasn't currently drunk or wearing trousers.

"How are we to improve things if we are not allowed to learn from past mistakes?" Lucille asked.

Because she hadn't been particularly impressed by the dances she had been to.

"Are you still talking about the quality of the drinks I provide? If so, then let it be known that I've made NO mistakes," Frank said. "Merely deliberate choices you may disagree with due to the fact that you are objectively wrong."

Frank raised an eyebrow.

And then took a drink.

"I hereby retract my candidacy like so many Chris Christies," Frank noted. "I will gladly accept this Cabinet position should the one who said that win."

It was a liquor cabinet, of course.

"Unless people vote for me. I am a flip-flopper, and I will not pretend otherwise," Frank vowed. "Unless I choose to."

That would cover any random groundswell of support that might get him voted through no fault of his own.

No fault unless you counted the brazen promises of alcoholic bribery.
