Advanced Criminal Justice, Class 18, Period 1, 03.16.06

[OOC: It will be difficult to play while at work today due to moving to a new office down the hall and therefore not being at the computer. Or even, perhaps, having my computer set up for a portion of the day. Therefore, I have help today! Class Info Post.]

"Hello, class!" Tick said from behind his desk. Lockheed was on his normal shelf. "Today we have a special guest: Constable Benton Fraser, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Fandom High Security. He will be speaking of his experiences and views on Justice. So please, have some coffee," Tick motioned to the cups on his desk, "and give Constable Fraser your full attention."

"Training consists of many things," Fraser begins. "It's based on principles of adult learning and community policing. The training revolves around a system of learning how to see each situation from a client's perspective. Training includes scenario training, roleplaying, lectures, panel discussions, research, presentations, and community interactions. Cadets are largely responsible for seeking out the information on their own. There is individual and group work involved. There is, of course, physical training as well. Remember to bring your atheltic tennis shoes."

Bridge considers this. "Huh. Sounds sort of like SPD I guess, except for the 'adult learning' part. Most of us joined when we were kids."

"Might I ask what SPD is?" Fraser asks. "I've never heard of any law enforcement agency or the like accepting minors."

"Special Police Dekaranger Space Patrol Delta, sir. It's the intergalactic police force where I'm from."

He doesn't mention the part where some of them get superpowers, as he's pretty sure the RCMP *doesn't* hand those out to its cadets or officers.

"That's quite interesting," Fraser says. "And you were recruited at a young age? Was this something you wanted to do?"

"Yep," Bridge nods. "And *totally*, yeah. Seemed the best way to put my skills to use."

"Since you're currently attending school here, are they holding your spot until you return?"

"Well, I've been temporarily reassigned here," Bridge says with a shrug. "As long as I make sure that a certain number of my classes fit within the Academy cirriculum, whenever I get called back I'll just go back to my squad."

"I see," Fraser says. "Would you say that security and law enforcement authorities here differe from the SPD?"

"Well," Bridge says. "A lot of the stuff is the same, when it comes to apprehending criminals and stuff like that, though I think jail is awfully inefficient. There's no Rangers, either. That's different."

"Jail is inefficient?" Fraser looks thoughtfully at Bridge. "May I ask what methods you employ to punish those who break the law?"

"Capture cards," Bridge says, measuring out with his thumb and index finger something approximately the size of a trading card. "Criminals are transported to a pocket of extradimensional space within the card. When their sentence is over, they're released from the card."

Fraser's eyebrows go up. "And how well does that method work?"

Re: Q&A [Class 18]

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-03-16 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, no-one's ever escaped, if that's any indication."

Re: Q&A [Class 18]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-03-16 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like a valid method then," Fraser says and smiles. "Thank you for your sharing your experiences."

"No problem, dude!" Bridge chirps.
