Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

So, the heat meant that many of the tables and chairs had been set up in the shade, and someone had found outdoor table umbrellas in blue and gold, god help us all. But hey, a little heat never hurt anyone who wasn't a vampire, right?

Ahem. The picnic was open for warm, sunny business.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Ringo flushed slightly, but managed a grin. "Well, it's a summer picnic, so it's sort of a tradition, right?"

"I guess it is," Anders said. "And even if I don't walk around shirtless, I'm not going to complain if other people want to."

A pause. "Not that you're exactly shirtless."

She flushed a bit more, but laughed. "Um, yeah. I don't think that I'm that daring." Just the thought of it made her duck her head slightly.

"I didn't mean to embarrass you!" Anders protested. "At least, not that much."

"I know!" Ringo said quickly, managing a little self-conscious grin. "And I really shouldn't get so embarrassed over something like a little teasing."

"You shouldn't, but it's sweet," Anders said. "It reminds me we aren't all completely shameless."

Ringo giggled at that, and shook her head, sending her pigtails swaying. "I think your perspective might be a bit warped by your roommate."

"No, I think I was warped already," Anders said cheerfully. "Not that Dante helped."

"Dante never helps. With anything."

She didn't really think that, but she wasn't about to admit to anyone she thought otherwise.

Anders raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't say that. He helped me out of my pants yesterday."

(Sorry, Ringo.)

Ringo wrinkled her nose, making a fake-grossed-out expression.

"Is that why he came to the picnic late?" she asked. She wasn't sure Dante had, but it sounded like a reasonable accusation to make against him.

"I don't think so, but you'd have to ask him," Anders said cheerfully. "He might have found somebody else to help. He's generous that way."

"Generous." Ringo repeated the word carefully, then snickered in amusement. "Uh huh. I'm sure that's how he'd put it, too."

"He might say easy," Anders conceded. "Same thing, really, isn't it?"

She grinned up at him. "Close enough, probably."

She looked a bit curious, cocking her head slightly. "Does that make him convenient, or inconvenient as a roommate?" she asked curiously.

"Convenient now that I'm single," Anders told her. "Inconvenient when I was seeing Nathan. Why, are you going to try to move in after I graduate?"

Anders almost hoped she would: They would kill each other, and it'd be hysterical.

"No way!"

Whoops. Ringo hadn't meant to be that adamant about it. Reacting before she really thought about it could do that.

She shot Anders a look. "I bet you couldn't come up with a worst roommate recommendation if you tried."

Anders squinted, considering it. "Lucille," he tried. "She always seems to rub people the wrong way."

(As opposed to Dante, who only rubbed people the right -- well, hyou get the picture.)

"What?" Ringo blinked. "But I like Lucille." And also thought that Lucille liked her back.

Which was to say that Ringo was a pretty terrible judge of character.

"I don't have much against her myself," Anders clarified. "But it seems like every time her name comes up, it's because she's annoyed somebody. And Kathy hated her."

"Really? I thought that they got along just fine?"

Because Ringo had always been more than a little oblivious about how people interacted with Lucille.

Anders shrugged. It wasn't as if he'd had much reason to quiz Kathy about it;it was just something that had come up in passing.

"All right, then who do you think would be a worse roommate than Dante?" he tried. "Since you think I'm wrong about Lucille."

"For me?" Ringo shook her head. "Other than my sister's psycho ex-boyfriend, I can't think of anyone."

"Huh," Anders said. "What did the ex do?"

"Brainwashed her. Tried to kill me. Was trying to take over the world."

Ringo might have some particularly bitter thought so to direct at the guy.
