Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

So, the heat meant that many of the tables and chairs had been set up in the shade, and someone had found outdoor table umbrellas in blue and gold, god help us all. But hey, a little heat never hurt anyone who wasn't a vampire, right?

Ahem. The picnic was open for warm, sunny business.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Hey," Anders said, wandering over for no particular reason except that he hadn't talked to Jalian in a bit. "See any interesting new people yet?"

"One girl who was disappointed I'm not from her world," Anders reported. "Nothing too strange yet, but the picnic's young."

"Why disappointed?" Jalian asked. "She was looking for people who knew her?"

"More that she didn't expect to be in another universe," Anders corrected. "She's Lady of something-or-other, too. Nobles expect people to know them. Nice girl, though."

Jalian shrugged. "Most people I think don't expect that. Which one is she?"

Jalian looked and nodded. "She's pretty." And another girl who insisted on skirts. Jalian still couldn't see the attraction."

Jalian grinned. "Are you saying we're all pretty?" She wasn't arguing.

"Obviously," Anders nodded. "I can't deny it. Just look around."

There were fewer bare chests and bikinis then at somepicnics in the past, maybe but still more than enough eye candy.

"I am," Jalian said cheerfully.

"Is it good to be back?" she asked. "The island was strange places this summer."

"I think it is," Anders nodded. "I didn't mind what I saw of the trips, but it's nice to know we won't wake up tomorrow and be next door to a planet full of things that want to eat us." A pause. "Probably not, anyhow. One never knows."

"The people on this Earth are mostly soft," Jalian said. "And there are no large predators. Some of those places were very strange, though."

"Did you tour any of them?" Anders wondered. "I was too lazy."

"The one with the dinosaurs was interesting," Jalian said. "The cheese was messy. The one with all the portals was...hm. I learned a little." She shrugged.
