BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday morning

After missing a flight due to airport security feeling the need to wand over every single piercing she had, Negasonic was in a bit a mood. Then she saw the glittery banner welcoming all Fandom High students and the portalocity lounge.

Ugh. Glitter.

She dumped her duffel bag on the floor and slumped into a chair. Five seconds later she had her phone out to tweet about what a lousy flight experience she had and how little she was looking forward to going to a new school.

She immediately got a tweet back from Colossus. "Give it a chance."

Ugh. Optimism.

She slunk down in her chair a little farther and hoped the shuttle would get here soon so she could at least be going someplace.

"...was that run by Dahl?" Aw yeah, a hellish corporate oligarchy in space.

"Uh. No."

Okay. Maybe this guy was weirder than she thought.

"How about Earth? Heard of that?"

Excuse you! He wasn't weird at all! He was just not from this universe. Probably.

"Not really."

Rhys is missing an eye and an arm. And isn't from the planet. It's a little weird.

"You're on Earth. And there's a lack of murderous bandits. For the most part."

Her tone was more huffy than reassuring.

IT WAS ONLY A MODERATE LEVEL OF WEIRD. GOD.

"...so, nothing wants to murder us?"

That assessment was probably pushing it for Baltimore.

"Not at the moment," she replied with more snark than reassurance. "But the day isn't over yet."

"You know what?" Rhys asked, looking around. "It's a step up from how my life has been going."

"Good. Then don't have a nervous breakdown," she advised. "You got a name?"

"Rhys," he replied, twitching his shoulders for a moment before remembering that he needed to offer the other hand.

She paused for a moment before finally shaking his hand. "Negasonic Teenage Warhead," she replied as if that was her name.

Because it was.

"...ooookaaaaay." Just wait until he saw the superpowers and turned into a stuttering fanboy.

That earned him a bit of a glare.

"That name a problem for you?" she challenged/questioned.

"No! No. No. It's just... interesting?" And sounded like she was a bandit boss.

Just saying.

More interesting than a horse that poops guns? Really?

"It's just a name."

Okay, first of all, how dare you. Buttstallion was a saint. There will be no besmirching Buttstallion's name here!

"A family name?"

That was hardly a besmirching. And it's only narrative!

"No. But I like it."

There was a vague threat to her tone there.
