The Danger Shop... was a sunny field.

Full of puppies.

Yes, all kinds of puppies. Really, just all kinds of puppies. They were all pretty damn happy, too, exploring the area and excitedly coming up to the students, before occasionally getting distracted by butterflies flying past.

Jackson, meanwhile, looked pissed off (now there was a novel concept!) and a little confused.

"This school is garbage," he said. "Play with some dumb puppies, I guess."

Who was immediately on the floor, letting the pretend puppies climb all over her? Ada, that's who.

And she didn't give two licks if it made her 'less cool' or whatever. There were puppies, and she missed the carnival's working dogs.

Honestly? Roscoe wasn't really a puppy person.

But there was a tiny cattledog puppy who had decided she was a Roscoe person, and she pawed at his boots until he generously lifted her up and allowed her to sit in his lap.

This was fine.

Dante was more of a cat guy than a dog guy, but... okay, puppies.

"Look, I don't have any kibble or shit-- oh, fine."

Within a couple of minutes, he was sitting on the floor, idly scritching a puppy behind the ears.
