"Master Kenobi had to return home today to deal with something probably regarding an alternative universe version of my baby father," Ben said with an easy grin, "which is not the most convoluted sentence I've ever uttered regarding my family at this school. I've met my grandfather and my future grandson. My mom's currently running around here with no idea who I am, being taught by my husband." He smiled at Ahsoka, "And I'm teaching my grandfather's Padawan, who I didn't know about at all until she showed up here. Communication isn't really a strength of my family. So today we'll work on that. In light of a weekend where we forgot everything and a week where we turned into other species, what kind of traits have you found to be part of your essential self? How do you think people would describe you in a sentence in family stories to people who will never know you? For example, Granddad was always described to me as tall, conflicted, and hard to approach."

How would you like to be remembered?

Well Ahsoka apparently wasn't going to be remembered at all, which wasn't that surprising given the state of the galaxy, but still caused a pang.

"I would have gone with kind over had to approach." In case Ben needed any more hints Ahsoka didn't know about certain terrible life choices Anakin had made. "He only hid behind Master Kenobi the one time."

Well, Ben wasn't going to let a way to get dirt on Anakin and Obi-Wan escape today. "He did? When?!"

If it were anyone else asking, Ahsoka might have tried to preserve Anakin's dignity, but Ben was...family, and she'd missed that since leaving the Order...and what came after that.

"It was the fist time I met them, properly met met them." It wasn't like there were any younglings her age at the Temple who hadn't known who they were. "He hadn't been expecting a Padawan." So he'd put Obi-Wan between himself and the fourteen year old girl.

"And so he hid?" Ben burst out laughing. "The Hero With No Fear."

"Yep, tried to pass me off to Master Kenobi because 'he's the one who wanted a Padawan'," she said, mimicking Anakin's pose and tone. "But he came around after I dropped a wall on him."

There'd been a hole in it.

"He let you drop a wall on him?" Ben was laughing even harder. "I like you!"

"I don't know that 'let' is really the right word," Ahsoka said, smiling at the memory. "But it convinced him I'd be better off as his Padawan than Master Kenobi's."

Ben snickered. "And were you?"

"There's no one in the entire Order who would have been a better Master," Ahsoka said, and meant it.

Ben's entire expression softened at that. "He's a surprisingly good teacher," he admitted.
